It's not just twitter, people are now losing interest in social media in general.
Few platforms that do well like instagram and tiktok are doing well just because of the fatherless girls and thirsty perverts.

Twitter is not for everyone. You won't see a good reason to use it if you aren't making cash with it.
yep i did the same a few days ago i now have more free time. but i did it because i was tired of all the politic situation i had to read, i realised it wasn't good for me i felt annoying and hopeless about my country situation when entering and reading a lot of crap from trolls.

No. Twitter is fantastic social platform. Giant people uses X.
Those people have lied to you or you are spreading falsehoods. You need 5 millions of impressions a month to be eligible for monetizing, and is then on an account basis if they approve you. The other way is to go with paid subscribers which you need 500 followers at the minimum and is much easier to get approved.
Twitter is really profitable when you use as a platform to advertise your own products,shilling, or personal brand. That's why you see a lot of accounts with 300-5k followers with the blue checkmark posting memes, guides, insightful thoughts, personal motivational pics. Is all to channel those twitter users to their website as I've noticed that Twitter gives you less eye balls once you start including links in your posts. They really want to keep the traffic internally.
But to say that you can make money from twitter by faking up engagements and then apply to their monetized platform is a complete lie because the money is not there and Musk isn't approving everyone.

There's still a huge number of people on the platform so giving up on it may not be the the best option for connecting, networking, and making money.
