I've been trying SEO for some years now and never do my websites get any visitors. Sometimes I rank OK for some keywords on the first page but I don't get a lot of hits anyway. I can't rank for any good key words on Google either.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong to NEVER get any hits to a website and NEVER get any money from running one.

What am I doing wrong? Anything people usually mess up? Please don't give generic answers I see on this website all of the time by lurking. I have already seen them.

How do you people do it? Nothing I try works in getting more visitors to my website, whether it's ranking on Google, putting links in other places either for backlinks or clicks, or putting them on socials. I can't really buy any services, and besides they only give temorary results.

How did YOU do it? To get a lot of visitors? What IS a decent amount of visitors?

Do you use keyword analysis tools? Are you targeting "difficult keywords?" Are you in a competitive niche?

I started blogging last year, but i am getting some views from low competition keywords. I decided to mass produce articles from these keywords till my site builds authority.

Patience is most important because SEO often takes time to give results.

The process:
Proper niche & keyword research to create topical clusters for niche relevant content.

Creating SEO optimized content based on the above data and top 5 serp results.

Based on topical relevance interlinking the content on the website.

Making full use of longtail keywords & questions in the content.

Building quality links pointed mostly to the homepage.

Taking full advantage of UGC platforms & social media platforms to drive traffic with clickbait/ctrl boosting engaging content.

Keeping watch on latest trends in the niche as trending topics are easier to rank plus they are more likely to drive traffic.

I've done all of those things in many different ways and never have had any good results

Theniches (for the people that asked) were things like
- Social Media growth
- Gaming
- Giveaways (like Food Banks)
- Blankets (at one point, haha)

I bet your kw research skills are poor. you're targeting keywords that are too hard to rank for.

niche and the keywords. You need to change ur strategy here.

Maybe you picked a hard niche or u didnt narrow it deep enough.

Then, how do you pick your first set of the keyeords. Domain age has nothing to do here.

If you can share a bit about this may be we can help.

Here is how I normally do it.

Buy fresh domain. No need to be a .com.
Select a niche. I Avoid YMYL niches.

Then find a set of 0- low vol and easy to rank keywords. (at least 100)

Write and publish.

Optimize using GSC data.

With around 20 posts sites have av: 1000 gsc clicks within 2, 3 months.

No off page seo, social media or YT.

So if im able to rank and get traffic this way it's very likely you do this a bit different in your case.

Then there's an issue with either:
Your niche & keywords which are maybe more competitive or the search intent maybe.

Your website & contents SEO optimization.

Backlink profile & domain power.

I have been following this simple process for years now and have seen decent results with even auto generated content.

Don't go so broad in your niches.

Social media growth for artisan coffee roasters is easier than general social media growth.

Indie first-person shooter games is easier than gaming.

(just examples, but you get the idea)

It might feel counterproductive to go for more targeted audiences, but it's the difference of going broad and getting 100 visitors out of a million, or going deep and getting 1000 visitors out of 25k. Conversion rates and RPM in deep niches are often higher (super-fan/community aspect), especially when you take time curating your ads, affiliations, etc.

The only niche you list that’s not heavily saturated here is blankets.

What’re you using to track “hits” and what’re you referencing as hits? Page views or clicks?

What we’re the difficulty ratings of the keywords you targeted? What was your on-page SEO link? Where did you get backlinks from?

What keywords are you targetting? Seems like they have high competition. Unless you have any keywords ranking in top 3 expect almost 0 visitors.

You should try changing the choice of keywords & backlinks, and then see the results, if it still doesn't work, show your website to SEO expert they might guide you in right direction.
