I need your help/advice guys,please

Hello there BHW community,I know I wasnt very active around and maybe I dont deserve your time/attention,but if you're still reading now I love you!..so here it goes...I dont have any php/html knowledge sadly,so do you think building somehow a site like solomid(.)net is possible with a 200$ budget ? I know for sure that such site in my country would be a blast,so it won't be in english.. And besides that..there will be audience I know it.but what about monetization,I dont see any ad or whatsoever on their site,so do they actually make any money?Thanks alot!

You could build that type of site with a CMS such as WordPress and you won't need any PHP skills.

All you would need is:

Hosting
Domain
Outsourcing content / Writing yourself
Maybe a nice logo

But it's very important that you write about what you like if you're starting out, it's all about the effort you put to your site when you first start it, don't think about the money just now.

I wouldn't invest anything in the actual platform because starting out almost anything could work. You could create something functionally similar to that with wordpress and free themes.

That's a user content driven site so getting people to your site and interested in contributing should be your main concern. To do that you'll need to populate the site with a lot of content to start because not enough people will want to bother contributing to a new site that isn't established yet. You need lots of contributing users in order for anyone to want to become a contributing user. Kind of a "Catch 22" I know, but that's how it works for those type of sites.

Then you have to figure out how to monetize it. To grow a site like that you'll probably need to keep it a free membership which means you'll probably need to make money with advertizements. You won't really be able to get paid ads till and if the site becomes popular so that leaves affiliate, ppv and ppc ads. They won't make you much either until the site starts drawing enough traffic either, but at least you can start using them right away.

So, I'd say creating the site won't cost much of anything, basically just hosting and you could even start with free hosting until you start generating enough traffic. SEO and/or advertising to get visitors to your site and initial content interesting enough to keep people engaged on your site and coming back will probably be the real expense. With a budget of $200 it might take a while before you can accomplish that.

If it's a niche that you personally enjoy being involved in, then the time it takes might not be a problem. Otherwise it might be difficult to keep it up until it gets going.

Regi (owner of solomid) says he brings in an upwards of 50k a month from ads, and that was a couple years ago. Adblocker blocks their main ads, so that could be why you don't see them.

Starting a site like that is possible, but to be successful you have to build a brand.

Do most people in your country not speak english? Because that's the only differentiating factor that I see you would have. If they speak english, then you're competing against the established powerhouse Solomid, which is near impossible.

Wow..that was fast now..that means so much for me,thanks alot guys!... Now the thing that makes me so sure that this will be a blast is..the site is about a game,and there are pro guides/builds about champions and stuff,alot of people in my country that play the game don't understand english(my lang is integrated in the game so they take that )..so the simplest first step would be just to translate most of the stuff that is there !..Then after that people will begin adding their own contribution to the site..also I am planing to add some kind of escrow service,since there are a lot of possible trades going on facebook groups,but they don't trust eachother(like wich one to hand out their product first)..so that would also attract people !.. I am really confident that this will rock the audience in my country..Now I really hope that the traffic in my country will monetize somehow decent..Also gotta think about building it to look as nice as posible,as close as possible to solomid or whatever just nice looking..Thanks alot for the reply guys,I really need motivation!

Just hope you're at least challenger ranked if you ever want to be 'credible'. I would say if you want to make money, streaming would probably be a better option. Hopefully if you're good, you can make money at what you enjoy. Good luck in your efforts though!

Wordpress will make your site look good and it is very easy to setup and use. You can focus now on the rest of your plan.

Also I think that exact layout is just perfect ! Do you think Visual Composer for wordpress will help me create a layout that's really close to solomid ?

I don't know what the limitations are of Visual Composer, so I can't comment on that. But considering solomid isn't using wordpress, you might be better off hiring someone to make a custom css that looks close to the actual site. mobafire, lolpro from curse also has a similar layout to sm as well, as do most of the player guide sites...

If anyone could please point me out to a wordpress theme or something that would help me build the site as close as possible to solomid that would be great

I just buy services and if I want to create me own content 100% I use iPage drag and drop tool

If you don't have enough knowledge on PHP, it would be difficult for you to maintain your site. I suggest you to go for Wordpress. Wordpress sites are easy to setup and maintain. I am not sure about the cost. You may post a thread on" Hire a Freelancer" section.
