I need some advice on Offline Marketing

I am going to be doing offline marketing for an SEO/IM company that I am going to be opening. I am going to be setting up in-person consultations on local business websites, and letting them know what I can do to help them bring in more customers. I have my business plan all worked out, and it seems like a good plan, but there is one big problem that I foresee. I am only 16 years old, and I don't think businesses will take me seriously, even though I am very experienced in what I am doing and will thoroughly explain it to them.

What do you think?
Do you think they will take me seriously?
Also, I was thinking about proper attire for the consultation, and I think that a suit would be a little over dramatic but nice formal dress-wear is a must. What do you think?


Any comments/suggestions/pointers would be awesome.

I say absolutely go for it, BUT wear a suit. Your age is against you, dress for success young man. LOL Us old folks will take you more seriously. In addition, I have done HOURS of research and I promise you that a suit is very needed.

What your about to do is admirable.

Remember, This is going to be very difficult undertaking however, you will learn a lot of lessons in your undertaking.

Success will come with knowledge and persistence - Do not let your age be an excuse NOT to succeed.

I think you will do fine just be professional and remember to make them a deal they cant refuse.

As for what to wear yea suit is overkill personally I cant stand suits and think they should be banned lol.

I would wear nice clothes collar shirt polo maybe? nice pants and shoes .

I am doing offline marketing myself hope you do well.

Thanks for the advice, I have talked to a few people about wearing a suit and I think it is a bit of an overkill. I have put a lot of work into this idea, and I hope it becomes a success.
 
If for some reason it doesn't work out for you because of age, you could always try hiring a commission based college student to do the presentations for you... that way you could do the work and still collect the ongoing monthly fees.

I was actually thinking about doing this, but it would have to be someone that REALLY knows what they are talking about when it comes to SEO, and that might be a bit hard to find in my area.

Yeah and chances are if they knew that much about SEO and marketing to local businesses, they would be doing it themselves and making all the money instead of sending the prospect to you.

I say just go for it. If you can show them you know what you're talking about, they should have no reason to doubt you. Maybe try offering a free 2 weeks or 30 days or whatever up front to prove to them what you can do.

Also, I agree the suit is too much - especially on a 16 year old. To me, something usually doesn't seem right about someone that approaches me in a suit. Wear something decent looking but don't overdo it. At least that's what I would do.
 
I know you said "in person" but why not try the phone?
 
Furthermore, teens today know more about the workings of the internet than most older people...
 
Hey man thats watsup, your starting this at 16 and already very knowledgable in SEO. Probably more than me and im 22 years old. Im starting my own SEO company as we speak, havent began looking for interviews yet as i am just trying to perfect my plan. How my sales pitch will go, i want it to be different. Not like a sales pitch but, just facts, and proof. Showing them specific details about what i would do with their businesses keywords, how many they can dominate, how much traffic will come from that. You being 16 is going to work against you at first, they will think your playing but its about attitude, walk in their, and admit it, I know im young as shit, but listen, I've been studying this for a long time, I know what im talking about, I know how to put YOU website on the FIRST page of google!!

You know what your talking about, they have no clue about SEO. All u have to do is make it clear to them that this is what you do.

DO IT MAN!!!
 
oh yea and i was gonna say your starting this business up at 16 imagine when you get my age, thats 6 years away, you should have a 6 figure company up by then

just keep in mind at 16 Anthony Robbins was working for Jim Ron and already the top sales person in the company, don't think he ever stop to thing well a suit is over kill or I'm too young since now he owns his own island, plane just to own a castle an many more things multimillionaire, I think some time he looks back and say hey WTF I was to young to make money....Not
It should be hella easy if you know what your doing
