So i want to have my main domain where I can target main keywords in my niche but I also want to create subdomains that create focus on certain locations. Part of my business is going to be an emphasis on a focus on location to kind of differentiate us from everyone else.
What I mean is lets say I did logo design and my site was logodesign.com
I would post content to logodesign.com/blog
But I also want to have customized location pages that speak to the local areas I serve.
So something like Logodesign.com/NY
And the Logodesign.com/LA
But on top of that I want to target some local long tails with occaisonal blog posts with those specific areas in mind. Noting that I'm not going to duplicate content across multiple areas. So what I want to know is which way would be better to lay this out for blog posts that target those long tail, local keywords?
Would it be making Logodesign.com/NY/blog and logodesign.com/LA/blog
Or would you put all of the articles under logodesign.com/blog and then link to those local pages within the blog post itself?
I know as I scale it would obviously be much easier to keep it all under 1 blog BUT if I get organic traffic and someone from Minnesota comes across my site, I don't want logodesign.com/blog to have an article about logo design in NY because I believe that will give the organic traffic and sense that my service isn't for them.
On that note is it unheard of to not have home links that go directly to certain links of your site? My thinking is I want to make my site appear like a general organic logo design company to the organic user but more localized to the local user. Im afraid if I don't further segment to local domains that an organic user from Minnesota would come abd see that I only have locations in LA and NY.
Guidance would be greatly appreciate this will be my first site and appealing to locality is important to me. Im even going as far as to get special logo design done for those areas so that it doesn't feel like just a random template made ready new location page.
