Hello everyone,

I just started studying Google Ads and doing quick tests to see how everything functions.
Conversions, targeting, and keywords are still being worked out.
What is the most crucial item a novice should concentrate on first, according to experts?
I would appreciate any basic guidance.

Don’t rush ads, fix your landing page + offer first or you’ll just pay for data.
Start with exact/phrase match only and tight keywords, no broad until you understand search terms.
Track conversions properly from day one, otherwise you’re flying blind and wasting budget.

If you're doing Black hat, cloaking is the most important thing. Other than that your landing pages.

You need practice: conduct tests, and you will succeed. Good luck!

No matter what you do, you can only understand the process after testing.

Most crucial things are :-
1) Your search campaign's keywords, ad headlines, ad descriptions and landing page must be exactly relevant to each other.
What I mean is that if your keywords are "order flowers", "buy flowers", etc, then your ad headlines, ad descriptions and landing page must also be about ordering flowers / buying flowers.
2) On the landing page, ensure you have privacy policy, terms & conditions, about us, contact us, refund policy, etc.
Ofcourse, without these an ad can go live, but it will not sustain incase of some Google Ads algorithm tweak, which happens often or a human manual reviewer checks the landing page, which does happen sometimes (more in certain niches). So, have privacy policy, terms & conditions, about us, contact us, refund policy, etc on the landing page / website, to be on a safer side.
As you are a novice, ofcourse there are some more aspects as pointed out by other members. But, the 2 points I mentioned are what novices mostly skip or ignore.

If I had to pick just one order for a beginner, it would be this: first make sure conversion tracking is real, second make sure the landing page and offer are clear, and only after that start testing keywords and targeting. A lot of beginners do the opposite and end up optimizing noise because they never trusted the data in the first place. Once tracking is clean, even a small budget can teach you something useful. Without that, you can burn money and still not know whether the problem was traffic, offer, or page.

Start with keyword intent and a simple campaign structure first, because targeting the right audience matters more than anything else early on.

Sure, start small, test your ads and audience first. track results daily and do no spend too much until you see what works.

Maye sure you uncheck Display Network and search partner's before you launch. Google keeps them on by default , but they ussually just waste your budget on junk traffic that doesn't convert.

Tbh, the most important thing is your Negative Keyword list. Beginners often lose a lot of money on irrelevant clicks because they don't monitor their search terms daily.

Start with phrase match and keep your keyword list tight. Also, make sure your landing page is fast and relevant to your ads—Google will charge you more if your quality score is low. Don't scale the budget until you see at least a few solid conversions.

First focus on conversion tracking, then start small search campaigns with simple ads and test keywords slowly, don’t change too many things at once.

It depends on the products you're working with. If it's white hat, it involves optimization and working with different keyword clusters. If it's black hat, it involves how to run campaigns on them (proxies, accounts, anti-detection), and warming up accounts.

Focus on setting up conversion tracking first. Then, work on keyword research and target the right audience. Keep it simple with Search campaigns at first and optimize as you go.

Start with very tight keyword targeting, broad match will drain your budget fast if you’re new.

Beginners should focus first on proper keyword targeting and a clear landing page, because that’s what mostly decides conversions.

Yeah, don’t rush. Get conversion tracking sorted first. Start with tight keywords (exact/phrase), solid landing, clear offer. Watch the data and iterate on terms—once you see what actually converts, scale from there. Keep it lean and you’ll know if the ads pay off.
