(I)Need information on site transfer.

Hey,

I just won an auction. I was expecting that the seller would transfer the site to my hosting account. But, the seller is not aware and he is asking me for the instructions. Unfortunately, I don't know either.

So, is there a video or tutorial for this? Or Can someone tell me the information. I don't want to hire someone for this rather learn it myself because I would be acquiring more websites in the future and I don't want to go over the hiring process over and over again. Moreover, the site is not earning anything. I don't want to spend more on it, until it's more profitable. Therefore, I am looking for instructions.

I know he deals with site flipping, but he seems to be a busy guy and I am not looking to flip sites. I need information on site transfer if anyone can provide over here.

Rent a guy once and make him do that over Teamviewer. And you can record it or study seeing him do.

I have done that many time for my clients

Get to me on Skype. My id is in my Signature.

If the site is wordpress then you can use wordpress twin to copy the entire site (shared here somewhere)

If it is not wordpress you can download it via FTP

If he has more than one site on the host service it should be in its own folder under the public html folder. Just download that entire folder and upload it to your public html folder.

You will have to change the DNS (domain Name server) where ever the sites domain name was registered and point it to your new host.

If you use hostgator (only one i have delt with) then they have excellent chat support that can walk you through the process. Hope this helps.

And also transfer the DB by exporting and importing using Phpmyadmin.

Yes, I have downloaded the entire content from public_html folder and also taken full dump of your Joomla MySQL database.

Do I also need to export an xml file of the content. If yes, can you give me the steps to do so. In another forum, a guy told me to export an xml file by logging into wordpress and then clicking on tools-export. The guy wasn't aware that the site was on Joomla interface. So, my question is does the same apply for Joomla as well because I can't see this option.
