Man, that's the million dollar question lol. I promisse you that if anyone knew the sure fire way to drop a link and millions of people would click on it then these forums would be empty because everyone would be out on the beach enjoying all of their free money lol.
I think that's kinda where we all start off. For example, I'm with a network that pays me $50 per signup....Now, if I could just figure out a way to get that affiliate link out there and have 10 people click it and at least 1 of the 10 sign up, I would be at a 1:10 CTR and making $50/day. (about $1500/month). Not too bad. Unfortunately, I have not found this magic awesome sauce yet lol.
Here are my words of wisdom though. Take it from me, don't spend months chasing your tail around looking for how to get paid right now. Don't even think about, "well if I could only get a few, then I'll worry about more later." I've been on that mindset since last Nov. And I'm just now starting to switch up because almost nothing I've done has worked. If I would have planeted the seed for the long term back then, I would probably be on my way to a solid start by now. Think about what you're doing. You have a link. You want people to click on it. You get paid from it.
So I hate to be that guy, but there's a reason why the people that know what they're talking about all say the same thing. Build content. Drive traffic. There are no shortcuts. Sometime's you *may* get lucky. But luck isn't sustainable. It's just a lucky break. Take your time and build up something solid. You don't need to spend almost any $ to do this. Just time and effort. Make a wordpress site, or a blogger, or a tumblr, whatever. Just make something. Create content (better content, better traffic return). Link drop in your own content to your own traffic that you've built.
It's like learning how to fish. Once you figure out how to drive traffic to anything online, you'll never go broke lol. Because there are just too many ways to get paid now. But the larger the internet becomes, the more dense it feels, and the harder it is to get anything out and seen let alone clicked on by anyone. The days of tricking the user are coming to an end. People are used to things and know what to avoid. But if you make honest content (about anything) it adds meaning to the link you're trying to push. This will help build the users trust, and you'll see a much better return on your efforts. If you keep just looking for a place to link drop, you'll be chasing your tail for months wondering why it doesn't work.

That could be part of the problem. I'm not using any tools. I'm just trying to bang my head into my desk until ideas come out! lol. I've tried tumblr about 12 times, and no matter what the niche, no matter how many tags, no matter how offen I post, I can't seem to get 1 follower after about a week. So then I jump to something else. I can design pretty good sites, I went to school for web design, so I know a few things about usability and what not. So I'm trying to slow down and build a quality site and get traffic to it then monetize with affiliate links and sell ad space as this seems like a proven "method" that's not slowing down anytime soon. It's just a bit more work, and a bit more time, but from what I can tell, worth every bit of it. I've also tried ewhoring a few times. I made a profile on xham that had over 2000 friends in less then a week lol. But I only got 3 converts, and I don't like the idea of acting like someone else online so I shut it down. I just want to make good money from something legit that I can scale or duplicate over time.
Yeah, I was just trying to see if I could build up an audience on tumblr. If that worked, then I was going to start directing them to a new blog with affiliate links. But I can't seem to get any traffic there. I do however feel like tumblr has got MASSIVE potential!! I simply haven't learned to correctly tap into in yet. But I think I'm going to let it go. I've been focusing on site building seeing how I'm a web designer I figure I should stick to what I know right? lol. I started passivevoodoo.com (because I'm in Louisiana) I want it to be a blog all about "Ways to make real money online", and I'm thinking it would basically be just a ton of "reviews" of CB products and whatnot. But I can't think of anything to really get started.
