I Need Help with a Joomla 3.0 site

I'm looking for someone that knows Joomla 3.0. I usually create WordPress websites but this time I used Joomla as i think it looks more professional for a business website. I have created the website I am just struggling with one aspect, I don't think it should take you longer then 10 minutes if you know what your doing.

Im trying to create pages on the website that wont appear in the menu bars.

As the process of Joomla is:
- Categories
- Articles
- Menu Items
- Modules

I was wondering is there a way to skip the menu part and create a page that has a block of information and a contact form on? (Im currently using the Fox contact extension)

Im thinking I'm just missing something simple? As it cant be that hard to do.

But like I said I don't know much about Joomla so I could be totally wrong. Would appreciate any help, if needed a payment can be arranged. I hope I've made sense, thank you.

Is the form a module? Then you don't have to create an article... Just. Create and position it

Ah good point! Thank you! I was thinking it had to be an article for some reason. So I would position that in "menu Assignment"? But it will still be in my menu wont it on my site? :/

I'm hoping I can create pages that don't appear on the websites menus as I will be using landing pages with the website too.

Wordpress is easy to just muddle along with but joomla requires a bit more planning.

Its best you have everything worked out in advance what you will be using in terms of categories.

Every article needs to be assigned in a category. That article is then accessed through the menu that needs to be created also.

The style and format of the type of article is selected through the menu choice. You can select it to be a blog post, or a different style.

You can also have your menu show all the categories as menu choices. Or list all the articles in a specific category.

Work out your main categories, [business] [privacy] [services] [contact us]. Then assign them to a menu. Call that menu categories. Once you've done that you need to make sure that your widget, (called a module) in joomla is set to the right position.

Once you've done that, then you can start to write articles.

If its a small website, i would honestly say go back to WP. I'm experienced with joomla, and i was using it before WP. Now i don't touch joomla unless i'm building a large authority site. See if you can find a decent business template. Compared to joomla, i now find wp templates much better.

If you want to create hidden landing pages, just assign the articles to a menu main of its own, and then once you get the url, (if you publish the widget) you can just hide the widget, and the articles are still there.

Thank you Panther! I think I understand what your saying there. I really appreciate all the help, I have been messing with this site for a week now :\. I can tell you I wont be touching Joomla again though, I just thought a WordPress site is too common these days and I wanted the website to look like a proper business and legit. Hopefully I can get this to work, if not I will move to WordPress.

Yeah i know what you mean, i've seen some cracking templates on joomla, that i've never seen on wordpress. Joomla is definitely superior to WP, but it just doesn't have the popularity, and quickness that WP has. They still not addressed this in 3.0, i've been using it since before 1.5.

The type of sites i use it for are sites that need large bulk uploads. For your project mate, it sounds like you should switch back to WP. I would estimate you still won't quite get the hang of it after another week. It took me a month to get the hang of it, and even still i make mistakes, which just wouldn't happen in WP

Get back to WP mate, spend a day looking for a decent template, and go from there. Trust me, you won't regret it!!

I could not agree more there, I was originally looking to use WordPress but I couldnt find a theme that looked anywhere nere as good a Joomla Theme I found.

But I think I will Thanks , it really would speed up the process as I know WordPress a lot better. The funny thing is I've got so caught up messing around with the site that I'm not even sure if it will be that successful the method im working on lol...
