I need everyone's opinion

Who invest is important . 40% is good for non invest business

Hi everyone, I need your honest opinion on a dilemma. A good friend introduced me to a big client, which opened up the opportunity for me to build a company, hire people, and execute projects. Now he wants to be a part of the company, even though I’m the one doing all the work. I’m considering giving him 40% of the shares. Do you think that’s fair?
40% is too much if he brought just one client and isn't involved in operations. A referral fee or small equity makes more sense. Keep things fair, but protect your effort and future.

Tough situation! Maybe consider his contribution carefully before deciding on the share percentage.

That’s a tough spot. If the opportunity came through your friend and it significantly changed your path, some kind of reward or share makes sense but 40% seems a bit high if all the work, risk, and operations are on you. Maybe consider a smaller stake or a commission-based role depending on his involvement.

Giving 40% of the equity to someone who only refers clients, while you do all the work, is pretty high — and probably unfair to you in the long run.

That’s a tricky one. If he just made the intro and isn’t involved in the day-to-day, 40% feels like a lot. Maybe give him a smaller stake or some profit share. Gotta make sure it’s fair for both, but especially sustainable for you.

Giving 40% is generous. Consider his future role and contributions before deciding—equity should reflect ongoing value, not just introductions.

Hello
how are you?
If he just introduced you, 40% feels too much. Maybe give him a small share or referral fee unless he plans to help grow the business.

Thanks!

That's a tough one, but honestly, 40% sounds like a lot if he's not actively involved in building or running the company. Making an intro is valuable, for sure and you clearly appreciate it but you're the one taking the risk, doing the work, and managing everything.
Maybe consider giving him a smaller stake or a finder's fee if you feel it's right. Just make sure whatever you decide won't come back to bite you later when things grow.
