Im looking for someone that can help me find a faster simpler solution to changing my ip address. Right now i have to log into the router settings to change the mac address by one number then unplug the modem to get a new ip. Im hoping I can find someone to write a script to do that for me or some kind of software to rotate the ip like an rdsl ip rotator works.

this would be really easy to automate with imacros. I could probably make a custom program if that the way you want to go. Keep in mind people that different router types would need a different program.

None of those will do anything to change the router's MAC address which is provisioning the outgoing IP from your service provider. All it might do is get you a different IP address on your internal network depending on how long your IP leases are.

It's really not as simple as it seems.
It's easy enough to change the MAC address in the browser-based control panel for the router but out of the 4 different brands of routers I have right now none offer any kind of remote reboot or powercycling option from the control panel.
You can buy wifi controlled wall-outlet adapters that allow you to allow/disallow power but they're pretty pricey at around $250 for a package of 2 adapters.

Can you plug directly into the modem bypassing the router and then just create an automated bot to change the MAC address on your network adapter card? That could be automated and wouldn't require any kind of powercycling.
If you have one of those combined router/modems like a Motorolla surfboard or whatever what you need to do is contact your ISP and ask them to turn the modem into "bridge mode" this will disable the internal router and treat the ports on the modem like a hub/switch.
Then you would plug your computer directly into the modem and you will be pulling IP's based on your network-adapters MAC address, if you need to share the connection with other people in your family you would buy a standalone wireless router and plug that into the modem next to the cord running to your computer, your family would then connect to the router and would all share an IP.
This is assuming your ISP assigns you 2+ IP addresses which is pretty standard.

If OP tells us what router he is using then there may be a suitable router script available.
Many of the generic routers have the functionality locked by the ISP but the firmware can be changed on some.
Scripts and commands can be run.
Linux Firmware such as Tomato or DD-WRT work well on some routers.

You are correct. I forgot that OP would have to get out of his chair and unplug the router lol. OP move your desk by an outlet switch and plug your router into the outlet that it controls. Change your mac adress and flip the router on and off with the outlet switch. (but seriously thats probably the cheapest option lol)
