I'm looking for a wordpress theme that will simply allow me to throw the html code into it and have it look like a regular website.

Does such a theme exist?

HTML code into a wordpress theme and make it look like a website? Why do you want a wordpress installation then? try static front page, if thats what you are looking for

I always recommend Thesis... Search Engines love it for some reason, its supposed to be really customizable although I haven't gotten the hang of it yet I bet you could accomplish this with it though.

yah; i have a theme that you can put free style html coding and editing but it is of 87$ and you can take a look through video. theme name is thesis.

I built a theme that does just that, however I dont know if it is ok to say it here.

hxxp://metamorphosistheme.com you can use coupon code META-10 to get $10 off making it only $15. Theme was designed to look like a website not a blog.

Since blogs get indexed faster and crawled more frequently I want to basically convert my sales page to a wordpress blog with out it looking like a blog.

That's what I do for every site. Custom homepage with WP custom fields tied all into it. Just make it yourself and turn it into a WP theme.

Seems like Thesis is the answer. I have it already but havent' been able to make it look quite right yet..I guess i have to keep playing with it.

How do you make it a WP theme?
Is it easy or do you need to really know coding to do it?

I always build my own themes, but I dont think that is for everyone. I am a php developer.

Thesis? Why, it is so hard to style and not user friendly not to mention expensive. I have better themes.

If you're not going to use it as a blog - it's not going to be treated as a blog. Might as well just use HTML. It's not like wordpress outputs anything but HTML anyway. So spiders wont even know the difference. Besides, if it's just a sales page.. why do you care about it being crawled more often?

Google will know the difference. If you want a blank page my Power theme has a blank page, you can then set that as your home page.

shouldn't it be easier to get better SEO with a blog then with a regular site?

How exactly?

No. Why would you think that? That is a myth. The reason wordpress blogs generally rank higher is because of the structure of the html it outputs. Google likes how wordpress structure the content and links. But it does nothing but spits out HTML. Nothing else. Anything you find on a wordpress page you can put in an .html file. It will look the same.. and google will treat it the same.

So it would be pointless to do this then?

Is there anything "special" in the coding that helps the ranking?

OK..that just went over my head....I'm just a regular guy that has a copy of frontpage to design my silly little websites... :P

Nothing that is exclusive to wordpress itself, no. You are just building a sales page.. so, it makes no sense using wordpress unless you're adding a lot of content. Which would be more managable using WP.
