I need a WordPress theme for a city portal website

So I'm about to put up a website covering stuff about the city I live in... City News, Entertainment/Restaurant/Cafe/Pub Listings, Weather information, Special Interest Campaigns, etc.

WordPress should be good enough for what I have on mind. I just need to know if there are any theme you guys would recommend for a site like this.

Have a custom theme made? That way you are 100% sure it is to your likings. And: your visitors will stay longer.
