I need a new computer for my IM campaigns.

So my laptop is just not cutting it anymore. I bought a bunch of computers for my webcam studio and I think it only fair that I buy myself a new one specifically for work. So my question is what would be the best specs for a Computer that's going to be running alot of IM programs an be doing video editing and things of that nature. Thanks for your responses in advance.

Lenovo. Super practical, and very cheap in the US. I'm using a Lenovo e530, with i7-3840 (9800 on CPU benchmark), 16GB ram (upgradable to 32), 256GB SSD, 2GB dedi graphics, all for $950.

Take a look on ebay, go with a good seller, also I highly recommend Lenovo Y510, its got the haswell core.

Best thing about Lenovo is the keyboard and the mouse buttons; at the top not the bottom, its just better.

Thanks for the info! Am lookin for a desktop though. I can keep my current laptop/iPad/iPhone for mobile work. But I want something in the house working all the time .

You can find more pieces for a desktop computer at a second hand or refurbish then you can make a nice computer at cheap price

Buy a custom built computer on Craigslist. People spend lots of $$ the parts and sell for less because they get a new one or they need the money. Just check the computer to make sure it actually has the parts that are advertised (and OS).

I have 16gb RAM, 1 GB dedicated, i7-2600K @ 3.4GHz, 256gb SSD. This is perfect because I use alot of large programs. Vegas, After Effects, Premiere, etc. It literally renders 10x faster than my old laptop with 3gb RAM. I can also run 3-4 Virtual Machines at the same time no problem. Photoshop starts up in like 3 seconds. Perfect for IM

@Orange, can your pc with that configuration run 10 virtual machines Windows 7(or more) with no delay and any lag problems? Want to notice, VMs will use only small IM programs like social bots and few browsers

i recommend Toshiba , i bought my toshiba on ebay for $500 brand new, never had any usse, i use scrapebox and others softwares , leave it running for hours and the speed is good , just my 2 cents

build custom, will cost less and if you know how to you can end up with good one.

Go for no less than intel core i5.
