GSA has a steep learning curve, mostly because building back-links with blackhat methods has a steep learning curve. It's a complex project to get useful backlinks and it seems that more and more people in SEO are feeling like quality over quantity is working better these days. GSA is a tool for quantity, not quality.
There are tons of guides out there and you will just have to put in the time to follow them until you understand what's going on. But here's a quick summary of the big picture that I needed before GSA made sense:
-Site lists are lists of websites that GSA might be able to post to, like Wordpress blogs, PHPbb forums, and the like. GSA can look for these sites for you but it's inefficient so many people just buy these lists. You likely need hundreds of thousands of potential sites to post to because GSA - like any automated tool - will try and fail A LOT at creating a post that sticks up there.
-Proxies are required if you want to avoid bans from those sites.
-A captcha solver like Xevil is needed because all those sites have implemented spam protection to keep us away. You'll need proxies for that too.
-Some kind of burner email system is required because most sites 1) ask for an email 2) send an email verification link to click before the account can post. GSA can read the email and click that link mostly, but a lot of sites outright block all known burner email domains.
-ChatGPT, Article writers, or your own manual writing skills are needed to give GSA some content to post with your link inside it. In theory Google reads these, decides they have some relevance to your main offer/money site, and thus thinks your money site is relevant. But people don't actually read these, it's just spam to try and alter what the search engine thinks.
-You need links to post in your articles. A long time ago you could make GSA post article with links directly to your moneysite and see traffic come to you, but that risks damaging your main site now, risking "manual actions" or downgrading your reputation (some people do it anyway, it's up to you!). So you need to create a tier of articles/websites that are much higher quality that point to your site, and then point your GSA links at this lower tier of websites to boost them (with the hope that the boost will flow through to your main site). The strategies for this are somewhat endless, but perhaps you create a structure like this:
Your offer <- A few high converting money site Landing Pages <- 10+ paid article placements <- 100k GSA links to your paid placements
-A lot of people would say now that the 100k GSA links in the above (or a million GSA links, whatever) does absolutely nothing anymore. But there's always a guy who says he's banking anyways. Hard to know the truth exactly unless you give it a try. Also note that the above structure can artificially make your domain SEEM like it has a high domain authority on sites like Ahrefs, but Google publically says they are too smart for that and gives it little credibility. Duckduckgo, Bing, Yandex might not be as smart as Google in that regard.
-Backlink indexer? Those 100k backlinks look like spam to search engines (because they are), so Google likely won't index them unless it thinks they might be of some value. An un-indexed link is in theory worth absolutely nothing. If a high DR page links TO the GSA backlink then google might be more likely to index it. Often these "indexers" are just are pages with thousands of outgoing links that they themselves have spammed to death with cheap backlinks.
