For a rewriter, you should obviously look for an article spinner, and make sure to do some custom modifications to retrieve accurate results.
For a grammar checker, there is no real solution for this (if there was, then we wouldn't even need a spinner for a standalone program, as we could get something to rewrite, check, and correct an article in an automatic plane). I'd suggest taking the time and going through each one that's rewritten and fixing the errors.
