I love PIWIK!

Google analytics is great and i used it a long time. But i don't want to give my data to google. If one of my websites gets under manual review, they can see all my other websites too, because of my google analytics ID. So if you have one blackhatsite, they maybe look if your other websites are blackhat too and that can affect your rankings for all sites under this account. They are very good at collecting data, ip adresses etc. and i don't want to share it with them.

^^ This.

I've never understood why people running blackhat sites/methods would even consider putting google analytics on their site. I mean, why give the company your trying to outsmart all of your data?

I guarantee that google can see much more than they let on with sites that have google analytics installed.

This Piwik looks good. Going to use it.

I have been using Piwik Analytics for about a month now, and it works well. The only thing I am annoyed over is that I am not exactly sure how to differentiate the results of multiple sites on a single installation as you can with the GA interface. I guess I have to do a separate installation on each domain I want to track? If there is a way to use a centralized interface and have separate data I would like to know before I go through half a dozen installations and have to check a bunch of different sites :3

One thing I think I noticed about piwik is that it cannot follow traffic to ssl pages, and will show a higher bounce rate if you have links to any on your page, such as a secure login or something. GA I think can now track that, as it showed a much lower bounce rate than piwik for the same site.

There is also another thread on here where a member mentions a technique to have one installation but look like separate installations, maybe by porting or something?

Saw Piwik a few months back when I was posting spam for backlinks. Lol. I remember I promised myself to go back and check it out when I finished my linking. Thanks for reminding me, you got me with the seeing keyword position bit.
exactly the same

I would like to note that the installation was very easy through softlicious, but I had trouble installing it manually (and yes I know how to do it correctly). I am not sure what the issue is 100% but I am pretty sure some permissions were not set correctly from my host for users in comparison to their softlicious set-up.

So yeah if you ever have trouble installing Piwik and were doing it manually, just go and try it through Softlicious. I am not sure if that would ever become an issue for anyone but I thought it was worth noting, since it took me awhile to realize it.

I saw a person in this thread having problems with Piwik.. perhaps this helps...

Found this one: Piwik Mastery (set of tutorials for the open source program Piwik)

The dude says:
"I decided to create a set of tutorials for the open source program Piwik, and yes, if you are technical, you may not need all of my course, but even some of the advanced stuff you may not know.....

I made sure that almost anyone could setup Piwik on their hosting account and do it in less than a half an hour. If you don't want to do the installation, you can still outsource it and learn how to use Piwik and it's advance"

I'm not using Piwik yet. But if someone could get this and upload it.. awesome!
I would most definitely take a look at it.

Piwik is awesome am using it a lot :) You guys also have a plugin for word press it's free :)

Been using it for a few weeks on one of my sites. I'm very happy with it. It shits all over GA :D

I've been using it for about a year. Great tool. Plus has plugins that integrate with quite a few CMS's.

Yes, PIWIK is an excellent alternative to Google Analytics if you don't want to use them

DUDE!! I just installed using the DNS Proxy option so nobody can see the FootPrint!!! This is GREAT!!! No more 2 day delay from GA!

I'm sitting here looking at my browser session in realtime!!! GREAT!!

THANKS TO THE OP!!

Quick question: Is PIWIK a heavy loading application? How much resources does it take? Can someone elaborate on this? I'm concerned with page loading times and stuff...

Piwik is pretty easy to setup. I like to use GetClicky because of how much more date you get from it. It costs money, but I like it more.
