I just got this email, it wasn't even in spam

Your computer was infected with my private malware, your browser wasn't updated / patched, in such case it's enough to just visit some website where my iframe is placed to get automatically infected, if you want to find out more - Google: "Drive-by exploit".

Aw, what a nice scammer you've got OP. You should tell him that in order for you to be able to give him the $1400, he needs to head to the nearest Target and buy an Amazon Gift Card. Or maybe you prefer Western Union?

It would seem like the right price point for a good payout on a huge email blast. 99.9% will ignore this but one might just send him the money. I guess that's something we can all learn from these scummy scammers.
If the 'service' (lol..) you provide has an incredibly small potential customer base, you better UP that price. Someone made a great reply on this topic over at a thread about some disgusting gamer girl bathwater.
The whole BTC gateway though, I used to think that would totally dissuade non-tech-savvy people, but maybe it even adds legitimacy to this sob. I'm developing a niche oriented to seniors, should probably keep this in mind. Acting too technological for them might add me legitimacy.

Sometimes your email gets pwned (exposed to the public domain), and inside of it a service you've registered for sent you a PLAINTEXT password, which is a huge no-no. Scammers could pick up on that and blackmail you, I'm sure some people get their PayPals compromised like this. I might have been the victim of this once, but honestly, I should have known better than to use the same password everywhere.
 
I think he got the price right for the ROI. And he may get the odds a bit bigger in his favor because he really did get my password. But it's an old password I used like 5-10 years ago. He has probably bought it, in bulk, and now has people scared by the fact he knows the pass.
 
ha! i got that exact same email two weeks ago. i don't have a laptop, i don't use a router, i don't own a webcam, i don't cruise cam-girl sites.
but best of all i run linux so i can't be hacked like this. :D

that reminds me, on the "veronica mars" reboot that came out last week there was a character who was being blackmailed over this very issue so i guess this may be a real thing.

I got this email a few days ago same MO and it also had an old password i used about 3-5 years ago

There were 3 actually, but it has nothing to do with the content of the thread. :)
The first one was okayish considering it's a teen horror, but the quality dropped a lot with the second and especially with the third part of the sequel.

I'm aware there's a third one but since it's with a completely new cast and not nearly as good as the previous 2, I don't even count that one.

Honestly, the first 2 are great. And, I can add in a song by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello with the same title. ;)
