Ok, lets just say that if the black hole is affecting your space time THAT MUCH, this would be one of your last problems. Also who the fuck lands on planet before flyby that kinda can see a 2 miles high waves, which in reallity should cause an enormous winds. And when you have a sickness on your crops and your machinery is broken down, the last thing you need is more farmers. You need more engineers and scientists, if you think about it. Stuffs like that. You really should leave your common sense and skeptic mind outside of the cinema. Just saying. Sorry for being party pooper, but physics and Hollywood doesn't mix, at all.
