I just quit my 925 job

hey there,
I"m a professional software engineer with a decade of experience who just quit his job. I'm living on savings and trying to start my own software company. I ain't getting any business but have known about seo before so I focused on it when I was building my website. I added a blog and posted a technical article on it and was surprised to see a couple of clicks and that it ranked on the search engine.
I have a friend from high school who told me about some of the seo tricks before and last time I saw him I tried to pick his brains and learn something more. Recently I came across black hat world and loved reading all of the guides.
I redid one of my articles with help from surferseo and started taking care of the backlinks. It's an article about cost of software development focused on keywords with decent volume and little difficulty. surfer seo advised me on another article for top software companies in my area and I'm working on it right now. After I finish it I will work on back links as well. I was trying to find an expired domain in my niche to boost myself in the serp quicker but I want to learn a little bit more. Might as well use some of the services from users advertising here to learn more from them.

I hope you have lot of savings before you quit your job.You have a difficult road ahead of you.

I don't mean to discourage you but you need to plan your exit, be it a job or business.
This is not the right time to survive on savings with recession looming large and tech companies cutting jobs.
If it's a possibility, go back to your job or join another company till the storm settles.

Good luck! Quitting a job feels tough as you don't get that monthly payment anymore.
Have you think about getting a part-time job in a relaxed company and working on your free time in your projects? I was working 20 hrs week before deciding to pull the trigger

Exit plan is to come back to work in one year. I'm currently living in mexico its not that expensive. To hell with going back to a job. I might look for some contracts and take them on as a company if the money's gonna be tight. I didn't have any trouble finding a job before so I doubt I'm gonna have trouble in the future. It's not like it's a dot com bubble. Technology is pretty well engrained in our lives and companies need software engineers in a lot of places now. The best time was years ago the second best is now.

I love software but it's the work at mismanaged companies that drives me nuts. Even if it doesn't work out I come back recharged with a better skill set and an established business on the side. Will be out here with you so will keep you posted how it's going.

Yeah I'm burning through money. Getting that monthly payment you don't realize how much you really spend. I registered my business two years ago but after finishing my shift at work I was too drained to focus on my own projects. Sometimes I would code through the weekend and then be tired at work. It just wasn't feasible. Working part time would be nice. I might take an opportunity.

Quitting your 9 to 5 job is a positive move, since you do have knowledge and skills.

The above will be a wrong move. Since you are currently living out of your savings, do not think of starting a company right away. You should rather start individually as a freelancer and while doing so gather your clients and expand your network and then down the road you can think of starting a company. I am mentioning this because you particularly mentioned that currently you are living out of your savings.

I agree. It's not like I'm gonna be making a lot of money right away. I keep an eye out for jobs to come back part time or on contract
