i just have to ask?

Good point about symbolism being in the eye of the beholder - and open to more than one interpretation. That
happens. I don't even want to (or need to) disprove that. I'm a lover not a fighter, anyway.

It was rhetorical, you don't have to do anything :)

Maybe the better word for movies such as the Matrix, Eyes Wide Shut, V for Vendetta, and a few others would be allegories. They were specifically intended to tell a definite parallel story in addition to the obvious storyline.

Allegory comes from άλλος(differently) + αγορεύω(talk about something). So, yea, they could be talking about something else, and it 's again open for a multitude of interpretations.

There was once a celebration in honor of a poet and there were talks analyzing his poems and how he said this and that and the other etc. Finally, they call him to the stand. He said "Thank you for all those wonderful things you said about the meaning of my work. I had never thought about it" :D

Some movies have not-so-obvious allegorical symbols. Other movies are blatant and were meticulously planned out to be allegories. My whole point is that the Matrix is indeed one of those types of movies, the mini-documentary lays most of it out very clearly (but only if you watch it!) and the Wachovski brothers have openly talked about what they really wanted to say with the symbols in the Matrix (in more than one interview). Some of their quotes are given in the link I posted. This isn't even up for debate.

It 's called hype. Don't buy into it that easily ;)

So just go watch that thing, and just believe me dammit. Ya'll acting like my woman when she's feeling stubborn.

Don't be so quit to think you have acquired the light :) I 've studied the mystical far more than you believe. Notice the verb I used. Nuff said.

jazzc- i am not insulting anyone, just pointing out the obvious- i might see myself as a genius while the next person might see me as a total retard. what i mean, is that everything is based on interpretation of current situation based on your beliefs that you either know subcautiously or even cautiously.

Are you honestly saying that you can't stop yourself from calling all others retards twice on one thread? The idea of a community is that we respect each other, not that we shit on each other. And it 's not like we 've cursed you to hang around with us stupids, is it?

There is more than meets the eye guys/gals. Remember that.

Lowbrow, mogostsi. There is no point in telling something to someone (NOT naming any specific person) about these things because most people will regard it as a lunatics theory or something else.

I too know what these symbols, signs, movies etc mean but I don't go making threads about them (mogomotsi, no offence) because no matter how much you explain to them. They won't understand. (Not trying to say you guys/gals are dumb, stupid, idiots etc. because if you have a close mind about something no matter what I say/do you won't change your mind. Will you?)

So it is best to keep these things to yourself because only a small number of people will actually see what is there.

Again I didn't mean to offend anyone.

jazzc- like i said i am pointing out the obvious. no harm intended.

You 've nailed the core of the issue. Yes, I will change my mind. I wake up everyday knowing that I am wrong and I know next to nothing.

The difference is that I have a method to filter things. Those that pass, become knowledge, the rest do not. And the methodology itself is also under constant check and revision. How 's that for an open mind? ;)

What I dislike is people thinking they 've got Budda himself by the balls and must convert the rest of the blind sheep to their holy light :) That 's why I am critical to these kind of discussions.

Google is the Matrix.
Black hats are red pills.

Morpheus: "This is a search engine, similar to the programmed reality of the Matrix. It has the same basic rules, rules like backlinking. What you must learn is that these rules are no different than the rules of a computer system. Some of them can be bent. Others can be broken. Understand? Then rank something, if you can...." :)

This is what I think...

The biggest take away for me was that time is not static but, dynamic. There had been many NEO's if you caught it when they found the Keymaster. The illusion is that you have one outcome, that's why you shouldn't second guess yourself in decision making.Make the wrong choice than living in fear of making the wrong choice!

I think you'd struggle to find anyone who would argue that time is static.

thanks to all for the replies, everyone is entitled to his opinion.

I don't think he meant static, as in static per se. I believe he meant static in the sense that time does not just follow a linear scale, if that makes sense. So what I think he meant by time being dynamic is that time is different in different situation, to different people.

It can be slow, quick or somewhere in between when relatively compared to how time feels to other people? In fact, time itself could be an illusion. What is time? People who have smoked or taken DMT (interesting topic all in itself) say that time doesn't exist while they are under the influence. Unlike other substances (even though DMT is naturally occurring in our bodies) the effect of DMT gives you an experience that is not related to, or confined to time.

I've never experienced DMT myself and therefore I do no know how to better explain it, but people have said that they felt "timeless" when using DMT. So of there is such a possibility to feel timeless, then time could be an illusion. One thing is certain though, time is dynamic, person to person, situation to situation.

I believe jazzc is trying to convey he doesn't blend well with solipsistic self-anointed de factos of whats intrinsically correct, as most people don't.

Could be wrong, but that's how I read it. :)
