I just got my first "Best Ever" back-link. Wikipedia!

So I have a bunch of incoming links and they get better everyday, but I just had a look this morning at the incoming links list and Wikifuckingpedia:yield: has links to my website in reference to my music playlists. I don't know how cool that is (maybe you all do and can tell me), but I know a backlink from them is not small potatos!
Just thought I would tell you all that I am super happy about that!:D

That's good but wiki will remove the link very soon if at all they feel it is inappropriate :)
 
Wikipedia backlinks are very powerful. Every once in a while I throw a link on there and it gets me tons of fast traffic (depending on the topic). The links vary on how long they last, but usually after a few hours to a day, they're gone. Great job, hopefully it stays up.
 
yeh wiki traffic is cool. i have one page that was made for my own site lol so no probs of my link getting removed. not sure who made it but they gave me some nice linkage lol. traffic is great to.. so i made another site on same niche and posted the url to my own page. now i have 2 of my own sites on my own wiki page.. and i wasnt even told about the page being made for my site. only found out one day while checking stats and seen wiki clicks
 
Allthough the links are no follow a lot of scraper sites use the content and the links become do follow
 
Wiki is a no-follow? Isn't that kinda wrong? I mean it's cool that they reference sorces *most of the time, but isn't a source link kind of the standard on the net.
Oh well, they are a multi-million dollar "non-profit". They don't have to right?

Yeah wikipedia is nofollow but google bums off them so I'm sure they still add a nice bit of weight from there.

Wikipedia is great for backlinks, I've got loads on there :D
 
a timely this thread as at the weekend I added a bunch of links to wikip edia on the chance that they may stick. Unfortunately I was a little enthusiastic and added about 10 links to different pages and the same URL as they were gone the next day with a little "do not spam wiki" message to me! probably should only add one in future and hope it sticks!
 
I didn't add any links, someone else did, naming my site as a reference site on my subject matter! That is what has me excited

Woah, I just checked my incoming and I got another from Wiki! Not another visitor. A whole new link. WHY OH WHY can't these be ******** links? I also get cool ones from Yahoo answers and Topix all the time, but even those are not wikis.
