I hope someone can share tuts on python

Hey guys, this is the second time i am creating a thread on learning python. Just wanted to say that if there is some one who could share his/her knowledge on python it would be great.

I am not a total newbie to preogramming. I know the basics. But just want to start coding things. If someone could help me out in coding simple things, i would be really happy, cos at the end, all my programs could come back to bhw.

I really want to be the next to code applications like the "
phoenix twitter adder" and stuff like that..

The best way to learn is to develop a program that serves some purpose or interests you. Think of something you would like to build and post any problems you're having and I'm sure people will be happy to help.

Why don't you download an ebook from popular warez site or torrent and start to learn. After that try to develop simple application like To Do List.

Forget ebooks, do a google search for: lynda Python 3 Essential Training

Last year I took a semester paper all on Python and got a reasonably good result for the paper, although since I discovered Java the following semester I havn't really touched on Python. The only thing I can say for you is to find some online course that will take you right from the very beginning until a specified point. I can however send you some lecture slides from last year though...

So you are one of those lazy ass "please cut my stake into little pieces" wanna-be coders. When i started learning programming I had internet on a 5.6KBps dial-up modem. The phone fee costed an arm and a leg so I had to connect, download manual/user guide/tutorials about what I wanted (this took like forever). Then spend a whole week reading and implementing. I had things I didn't knew how to do that normally take 3 minutes but it took me a week to figure out. That's how you learn. By reading and doing. You think if somebody takes you step by step you learn? No you don't. You learn nothing like that. The internet is full of documentation and tutorials. You have Google, you have youtube videos with trainings done for Google employees, you have the official manual, you have everything except will. You are lazy and in your subconscious you need an excuse for why you haven't started already. Same thing most SEO or IM people have - excuses. Trust me I know, I have my own. But at least I know and don't try to lie myself about it. Maybe you should waste a week learning about assembler language, then go to Python, it will look like making a hole in the ground compared to counting hair threads using boxing gloves. Just start doing it already!

I'd like to find a copy of Zed Shaw's online course version of his book Learning The Hard Way. No torrents to speak of that I can find.

also I agree with what is said above, you only truly become a coder. By trying, sometimes failing, sometimes succeeding. Becoming a good programmer isn't easy, become a bad one isn't that hard, but you don't want to be a bad one.

Above all you need to be smart, and try things for yourself. If you can't solve or come up with solutions to problems youself then you can't truly be a programmer.

Look for "Python Programming for the Absolute Beginner (2003)"
