Great to hear you're enjoying better food choices & health improvements.
Thank you!
I really only avoid Trans Fats most, there are too many toxins to believe we can avoid them all. Magnesium relaxes, potassium balances out sodium, all of which are in Cashews. Smart call.
Oh, yes, the first time I ate my first can, I could feel so much better. I'd eaten cashews in the past, as part of some mixed nut blend every once in a while, but never had I eaten them like this before, in this quantity. One time, this cashier lady at the checkout looked at me as I was buying the 16oz can, "you gon' eat all that? you gon' be fat." I smiled. Five weeks later and I'm still skinny.
I also was eating a can of fish every week (herring, sardines, oysters, tuna, salmon) for the Omega3s. Not sure which is responsible for my lowered blood pressure, the cashews or the fish, or both. My rules now are very simple. I avoid sugar and embrace fat. I have a day a week or so when I indulge myself in the finest sugary pastry in the store. I treat sugar like alcohol, basically. I know when my body has had enough sugar, and that's when my nose starts to run.
Now, granted, bread is still carby (with a little bit of sugar added during baking), ten slices of bread is still better than one chocolate icing covered donut stuffed with a thick sugary filling inside.
This week I found another good alternative. Some pita bread dipped in some creamy, cheesy, alfredo pasta sauce that is further enhanced with some pieces of sausage. That right there, as I was eating it, gave me the same satisfaction as eating a glazed donut.
Yesterday, at the cafeteria, they served grits in butter for breakfast. Now, granted, grits by themselves is pretty tasteless, but I was just in sheer awe at the number of people I saw putting tons of SUGAR packets into their bowls of grits. I mean, for me, the butter alone gave the grits all the flavor I needed. But wow.
And the day before that, when they were serving Honey Nut cheerios for breakfast, I saw one person put MORE sugar packets into his HONEY nut cheerios (not plain cheerios, HONEY nut cheerios...) I could not believe what I was seeing...
No wonder I see these same people snorting and coughing 24/7, drinking their sugar and coffee and soda. Oh god, coffee, that stuff makes me sick, literally. I tasted a sample of coffee last week, some chocolate topped coffee with a fancy name, at Starbucks. Last time I tasted coffee was 20 years ago. Wow, my chest felt immediately inflamed, and the next day I had a sore throat and sore joints and a runny nose for 30 hours. And this was just a 4oz sample. Yeah... never touching that stuff again...
