Ok my last thread I posted what I should invest 10k in well I have finally figured it out. Starting the next big social network! I have already drew this plan up but cannot do all the work alone. I will need some coders to help me with coding (I already know how to code just cant do it all by myself) also will need people who are good brainstormers.

In my opinion this social network would blow Facebook out of the water. Anyone who would like to be apart of my team just shoot me a pm and ill explain all the details!

You would need to change the 10k to 10M or so just for Marketing :)

Are you serious? Facebook started out smaller than 10M I already have 1,000 people willing to sign up once it is done and then they are going to spread the word.

Curious as to what you could offer that would blow Facebook out of the water. I can't count how many times someone has come to me saying "I have the next Facebook".

If you truly believe you can do it, then you should go for it. You should realize you clearly will have no income for years. People seem to forget Facebook was revolutionary and had no ads for years.

I am totally fine with the idea of waiting for years because it will be worth it. Most people who say they have the next Facebook are bullshitters as I am not making this anything like that. This is something that will be totally different from all other social networks.

If you have 10k to invest why blow it? Google Plus is having a hard time competing with Facebook and look at how much money they have put into it( 585million ). If you really do have 10k to invest, keep doing what you have been to make more money... And if you absolutely have to invest then do it wisely. Don't gamble it all in a high risk investment hoping for a billion dollar return, instead invest wisely into something with a low risk and hope to triple or quadruple it.
 
Come up with something unique and interesting than facebook.
Then with proper marketing it will go viral just like FB did.

But G+ is just a rip off of FB,imo that's the main reason it isnt as successful as FF.

There is at least 1 new social network starting every single day.

You have no idea how many people have the same idea like you have (including myself some time ago). I do not think there is any chance you succeed in this, but anyway, will be good lesson for you - what is sometimes more valuable than success...
 
If you really wanna do this, take an Open Source social network engine, which is free, and mod that to start with.

You can get it developed and launched a LOT faster than starting from scratch, and it'll give you a quicker idea of how it will be adopted, thus if its worth persuing.

You could get something up and running that way for maybe around 1-2k.

Diaspora is open source, and very very good. I would start there.

Well some people keep saying "you wont make it" or "you dont have the funds" to all those saying I wont make it you are dumb. I have been dwelling on this idea for the past couple of years and came up with some good ideas. For those who say I don't have the funds, how would you know? I am sitting on 2.5 million, so if I wanted to I could drop more than 10k into this social network but I know that I wont need to.

Google+ fails because it sucks and for those who don't believe me just get an account and try it yourself. What I plan to do is Unique, something that will separate itself from all the other ones out there. I still have yet to get another coder here on board but I have some article writers and such on board and some really good brainstormers.

This social network will be huge but I still need some coders.

Americans... :D I really hope that you are trolling otherwise you are the dumb person here. Even more, if you are sitting on 2,5m and want to invest in a social network I can bet that you haven't made this money yourself, unless you won it on a lottery.

After reading the initial post I already knew I had to post here. :P

Of course, it has been said over and over again that you have to try and that you shouldn't give up but what many on this forum are missing is:

1. Skill/knowladge
2. Being realistic about their skills/knowladge
3. Common sense


Good luck with getting ANY profit margin with your social network.

PS: I understand that you want to spend 10k on the coders right? Otherwise I can't see you competing with facebook with a buggy code written by teenagers.
