I have a serious problem with my analytics software, none will show referral link traffic proeperly?

I have tried Matomo (Piwiki), OWA, and StatCounter. I refuse to use GA, just do to the nature of my website.

Why on earth would these three softwares not show referral traffic? Instead they should "Direct Ttraffic", or similar.

Are there any other solutions I could try?
