I have a question.

My competitive site has a much lower rating of moz,ahrefs than my website.
But Google listing is higher than my website.

I've wondered before, but sometimes there are sites that have high Google rankings with poor backlinks. Why?

Most likely well hidden PBN.

Other reason might be site architecture with strong backlink profile of the root.

Then there is on-page. If they really nailed it, they will out rank you with far fewer links.

Lastly, there are outliers. They just make no sense as they stand from the norms. No matter what you do you can't figure it out (website owner either probably as well).

Their content may be

more in-depth

On page SEO is better (you can check backlinko on page SEO guide)

Their backlinks may come from more niche relevant website.

Most probably their content might be much better.
