I work in a food related niche and i try to provide good content. I have 17 posts now with 8 categories. What should be my next step in whitehat seo? I did one web 2.0 blog with 3 posts and a link back to my home page and also added my site to Dmoz. Should I:

    - Go into social media? Build a facebook page for the website and maybe add recipes to pinterest?
    - Keep building related web 2.0 blogs with a link back to my website? Should i link evenly between home pages and posts?
    - Create same kind of fake profiles in social media as in web 2.0 blogs to publish my links and maybe like posts in my website?
    - Build links in food related forums appearing as myself?
    - Make a youtube video with a link?

What would you do at this point that would be natural?

I've read a lot of information regarding these areas but the guide lines change so quickly that i wanted to get some reassurement. On social media i havent really gotten that much information other than "buy 20 fb twitter and google likes" etc.

Sashablack, what do you mean by citations and food blog submissions? Is food blog submission just creating random food blogs and putting my link in them? :D

Citations are basically instances where Google can find your NAP (Name, Address, Phone Number). There more instances of citations there are the better you would rank for local terms. However I'm not sure if thats what you are trying to rank for. Jut clarifying that term.

Hi Pesos, i think its the best to contact some other authority blogs about food. Ask if they would like to post your high quality article, including a backlink to your website. This is the best and safest way to receive backlinks. Its a good way to start.

Guest posting through related sites would be a good idea. Also submit to high pr article directories like ezine.

    - Guest Blogging on high authority blogs and
    - Create random amount of contents per month - try to submit them on different platforms ( e.g web 2.0s )
    - Reach to your target audience through different social platforms

You will see better results in short period of time. :)

    Hope this helps.

You want to make a whitehat website? Then don't rely on Google for traffic. Rely mostly on social media, but also guest blogging, press release, videos and links for traffic.

    For natural link building:
guest posting is probably the best
web directory submission can be good if you get into high quality ones like DMOZ and yahoo
    press releases (mainly for traffic)
make high quality comments on other related blogs
link exchange with a few other high quality blogs
maybe a few article directory links for traffic (the popular ones like ezines)

And screw web 2.0s, they provide no SEO value alone. If you want to try black/grey hat, create a few web 2.0s and build high PR links as tier 2. E.g. SAPE, PBN, and other network links. It's actually very safe.

Guest posting (with high DA) is one of the best way. Try to follow the list of freezeice04, it really works for me.

17 posts is very few unless you're a business website. Some authority websites only have a few pages, but in your niche you can easily scale into 100s of pages to cover every aspect or the niche.

A solid round up post featuring people who are good sharers would be a way to get some eyeballs in your niche and good links.

My advise would be to send some nice backlinks to each of your articles. Think Quality over Quantity though.

Everything that you mentioned together with more. Facebook and Youtube could also help attract visitors.
