I hate wordpress! so difficult to use

Why do people like wordpress so much? everyone I talk to says "it's so easy"

I dont get it. wordpress is so freaking hard to use. it's so damn restrictive.

need to change your page title tag to something else? too bad, wordpress says the title tag has to be "the page title" followed by the character "|" followed by "website name"
need to have different widgets on different pages? too bad, wordpress says all pages must have the same widgets.
need to have the widgets on the bottom of the page instead of the right side? too bad, IT'S NOT ALLOWED
need to put your phone number on the top of every page? too bad, that area is not "widgetized" because the theme author didn't think anybody would need that feature.

I am going back to CSS/html, because I can enjoy more freedom this way. If I need to change my page title, I just open the damn thing up in notepad++ and change it. takes 5 seconds. If I need to put my phone number on the top of the page, I just create a freaking div for that section. takes 12 seconds and I dont have to go online and spend hours searching for answers.

What are the advantages of using wordpress? I dont get it. maybe I am doing something wrong.

I think your using the wrong theme, that is what makes it hard or easy to use, I use Weaver Pro and it is super easy to use and very flexible, great for mobile applications also.
 
it has been my experience that most people who use HTML will hardly ever bother with Word Press unless they have to, and vice versa.

In fact most WordPress people can't even build an HTML page.
 
I don't even know a single piece of code and I can create killer professional looking sites with WP, fast and easy. Just remember that there is a plugin for everything. Also choosing a good flexible theme from the beginning is very important. But anyway, do whatever works best for you..
 
To me it just feels like you have no clue what you are doing.. I mean all the so called "problems" with wordpress you have pointed out, IS IN FACT possible. Just lol.
 
You can edit all the page templates just like html pages if you want to...
 
You would probably love Webstarts, OP. HTML, drag and drop interface, lots of nifty gadgets, etc.

You are doing something wrong dude. If you need something done in Wordpress just look at the 18 trillion plugins they have to offer. Many free themes also have some good SEO functionality too. It's not rocket science dude. I know HTML and CSS and a bit of PHP, Wordpress just simplifies it all and reduces unnecessary coding. You can still change everything if you really want to.

Maybe you like Responive Theme under Featured themes(Which is under Install New Theme). But the best themes if ofc the ones you pay for imo
 
You can use "ui design" theme which you can customize everything there with your html skills.

OP, listen to this piece of advice. I have been making sites via Dreamweaver forever..and recently started toying around with Wordpress and at first it was definitely confusing and almost intimidating. But soon you get the hang of it and eventually makes creating websites pretty easy. You just need to get over the first few hurdles and then you'll be good. But definitely google plugins for whatever you need. I spent a lot of my time googling stuff i didn't understand.
 
Its hard when you DON'T know what you are doing. If you take the time to read only 1 hour/day some tuts, instead of making useless threads about the most flexible CMS available, you'll see MIRACLES. So stop being a pu$$y and get ur ass to work.

I did read tutorials and watch youtube videos on it, but the tutorials are very basic, they just define what a widget is, what a plugin is, what a menu is. I would be happy if I could find more advanced tutorials to educate myself.
 
You are joking aren't you? If not I would give up on trying to make money online. If you are looking for something even easier to use, try something like Weebly or Yola.
 
Do you even know how Wordpress themes work? Page Templates? Post Loops? Functions? Filters? Plugins? I guess not. Dude, you seriously need to go and learn a bit of programming. You want to do everything by HTML? Haha, you smell like a n00b to me. No wonder why you have such reputation. Best of luck with your journey and please refrain from posting such BS...
 
You can make wordpress do whatever you want. If you already know html and css, all you need to learn is a little php. Like gogol said, learn what loops and functions do. I personally don't like to have a lot of plugins, so when I want to customize it, I just google for the code and modify the theme - or make my own theme.
 
Yeah and to dd your phone number to 2000 pages of your flat html site you have to do it 2000 times vs one time in wp. You are just using the wrong theme and few minutes editing your theme can enable all those features you want to have and they will be globally applies to the site in no time.
