I hate school

I'll be honest, I hate school. I think it's a waste of my time, the most precious years of my life when I have both energy and intelligence. I'm about to graduate and I have a really good gpa but I'm only doing this because my ill mother requested it and I want to make sure she's proud of me for the rest of her life. She wants me to go to grad school and has repeatedly implored me to start applying and take my GRE (because literally everyone in my immediate family has a Ph. D including my brother) and thinks I'll never be stable unless I have an advanced degree.

But I hate it, I can't imagine spending 5-8 more years pursuing an incredibly boring degree just to fullfil her request. I'm a businessman and an adept-in-training. I'm fairly sure I'll never use the knowledge I have gained for any reason rather than to hire the right people. I wish she could just understand that a computer science and math degree is of no value to me. I'd much rather spend my time studying magick and increasing my capital.

The only difference between our distastes is that I'll come out about 40,000 USD in debt and have to eat that bullshit sandwich. If I go to grad school, it'll be even worse.

I think that you should take the wheel of life in your own hand, because in the end, not matter what destination you've ended on. You chose it yourself!

say fck school i did too 2 month ago and i only have elementary age:18 btw i sign up to a digital school for graduation (im in the 10th grade now) only 1 day per week when i go to school for personal contact so it's slightly better and i can do my own things
 
What would you do without school? Who would you be without school?

I understand the people who don't want to go to school, but those are people who don't go to school but go do something. They don't go for the sake of going.

You don't like school, but pleasing your mother has nothing to do with it. You know you need it because the alternative without it is frightening, or else you'd be out already.
 
OP, I thought you were attending Professor Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.
You shouldn't leave there Mate, you need to learn to control your Mutant powers.
 
I hope your not under the impression, IM is easy or anything, Why can't you do school and IM at the same time? it is called time management dude. :/
 
School is not a bad thing. Obviously it isn't that much fun although some people think otherwise. I am happy with my commerce degree with marketing major and my clients are glad to hear that I'm educated. Unfortunately people will judge you based on your level of education so it is good to get as much as possible. It also is not bad to stay in school while you figure out your plans for the future.

In there end its your decision. Decide whether the 5+ years of school is going to help you in the long run.

Look here, I'm at the same table, sitting in front of you, studying in university coz I have to, not because I want to. But, school is a different story, it's a starting education level, if you don't get it, than you're a fool, I'm sorry.

College is different too, if you have some education from school and you want to educate yourself further outside college, than it's fine, but make sure you "survive", don't put your eggs in one basket and shit, you know what I'm talking about.

If you don't want to continue coz you hate studying, than change your mindset. But you don't sound like an ignorant kid, talk to your mom, explain what you wanna do, if you can convince her, you're the man, I was never able to do that.

One thing is for sure, education comes first, than money... If you end up uneducated, life is both easy and difficult, I think you'll get this.

Good luck and don't live your life other peoples' dreams... You'll regret it later.

life is short, quit and figure something out. Start a site that connects those who hate school with jobs or careers or paying jobs..
 
Hey OP,

I think I am also on the same boat as you man.

I am thinking of quitting school not because I am earning cash through IM, but because I have higher goals, achievements and dreams that, not only they will make me happy, but it can change this whole world as we know it ;)

In short, if you are quitting school, do it for the right reasons bro, not just because. ;)

In my case, school is a waste of time as I want to fullfill my dreams, my projects, my life goals!

I wish you luck, or I should better say, success; I wish you success in whatever you do!
 
I appreciate the positive and encouraging responses - and though it looks like I'm not taking charge of my actions, trust me - I'm in school because I *HAVE* to be here. My mom (and dad) helped me when nobody else did. They gave me everything and sacrificed years of their lives for me (many, many decades). I have to pay them back, and I am. I suppose I was just wondering whether going to grad school was above and beyond my duties to them.
 
For everyone who has second thoughts on attending school, just quit. Its bullshit, and all it does is train you to be a corporate pawn and provide your work to others. They will never teach you how to create your own business, or be your own boss. The objective is for you to be trained well so you will be a good worker for some corporation.

For everyone who disagrees, then feel free to continue being brainwashed by your books, and the state mandated curriculum of which you are to be programmed with.

Edit: Not to be confused with educating yourself. I am strictly talking about these higher education institutions. Learning new things is great and that is how you gain knowledge and critical thinking skills. Now-a-days, everything you would ever want to learn is online for free. Want to be a amazing carpenter? Well you can learn all that online. Want to be a amazing programmer? You can learn it online too. The internet is the only education tool you need.

The thing is: the one from the top goes up and the one from the bottom goes lower.

That means the powerfull will become more powerfull and you will become more "you" as you follow the big guys guidelines.

Though you think you have to pay them with school, and if school isn't the best thing for you, just go with what you do best and you would love to work all day on it :)

That's alsoe what I think!
I mean, I tell buds there at school about this and they just go like: -"nah, that can't be true, I come here to school to learn"- I mean, even professors tell us to imagine if we were going to give our "boss" a speech!!
That's one of many proofs of what you say, and what I fully agree.

If everybody was a "boss", there woulldn't be any pawns to obey. :L
