I hate freeloaders!

I don't know if anyone else has noticed but there are a few people on this forum who are basically active just to grab free review copies and take up free trial offers. That is it. 95% of their activity on this forum is just this.

Is this against the rules? I am sick and tired of seeing the same guy asking for reviews and free trials over and over again. I had a article writing service that I opened one year ago and this person asked for a free trial. I wrote him 5,000 words. Though he left a review, it was a total bloody waste of my time as he is just a freeloader who has probably never paid for anything here. I would have rather written it for someone who was down on their luck and needed some free content.

Just wanted to vent my frustration. I didn't want to out the name as I wasn't sure if the person was well within his rights (technically) to do this, however shameful it might be.

IMO this is just wasting your time with distractions. Bottom line is if its not making you money or taking money out of your own pocket then what do you care if someone is asking for a review copy?

It did take money out of his pocket. He wrote a 5000 word article. That's like $50 he could have sold to someone else.

^ he freely wrote a review article for someone who did leave him a review! Thats not taking money out of his pocket because it was HIS decision to do so. Now he see's this same person going around asking for reviews elsewhere and he is upset that person is going around requesting a review?

Taking money out of your pocket would have been if he wrote an article for someone with whom he had agreed a fee for payment and later the person just took the articles but did not pay for it.

In my opinion Free Review copies aren't given with the expectation that THAT person will purchase from you in the future, they are given for the REVIEW which you said that he left. The point of Free Reviews is to give them to trustworthy people who can give an intelligent review and that people will trust so its not just 2 buddies pumping each others sales threads up.

If he gave his review, and there was nothing else in the agreement, he did nothing wrong really. But people should not be posting in threads "Any free review copy?" they should just wait for people to offer them. If someone posted in my service thread "Any free review?" I would reply "Yep, but not for you sorry."

So if someone posts it in your thread, neg rep them, and ask a mod to delete that post from the thread. And if you REALLY don't want people to ask it, post in your thread "Please do not ask for free reviews."

I agree with you 100%. I was new to the forum when I offered my free review and gave it to anyone who had a decent post count. I never went into their profiles to see what kind of posts they were making. I just got a little annoyed because this guy is all over the place. I went into his profile today and his last 15 posts have been - I will take this free trial, I will try this free offer, can i get a review, can i get a review copy, i will take a review copy. Come on!!! Even the review that he left on my thread was just namesake. It was two lines long. People who have paid for my services have left much more detailed reviews.

But, as WizGizmo says, I guess I just have to ignore the guy as a total douche from now on.

I have just started giving away limited free offers and usually accept the same. I have paid for many services that I outsource here on BHW. It seems most of the people are truly appreciative of anything free. It's a great way to make friends on here.

Initially if you're brand new when you find this forum of course you're going to want to utilize the resources available to the best of your abilities. I think it makes for a catch 22 environment because I read a lot of posts here and a lot of them start off with "I've learned so much from here it's time to give back" The newbies soak that up and the ones who stick with it evolve and grow and return with a post starting out with " I've learned so much from here it's time to give back" and the cycle continues. I'm just being devils advocate

If you want to be technical, you're not even supposed to ask for review copies. However, it's probably different if you state that you have x number of copies, and then state your requirements. I don't have a BST thread, but if I did, I would have requirements as to who could review my services.

Hey, thanks. I will keep an eye out for this guy. If he technically violates the rules, I will report him. Thanks for the link. I didn't know that was there. I don't think the forum will lose anything if this guy is reported...he hardly posts for anything other than review requests.
