There Fees are so rediculous!!!!!

I sell a 600$ product and get a fee from ebay for 50$ not to mention a fee from paypal of 20$
Thats 70$ for sellling one product.

In the past month I have paid over 350$$ just in Ebay fees.

Its getting rediculous.

I Wish there was a substitue for ebay that had as much traffic and I could get as much for my products.

Dont frown. the big guys are always like that. How would they make their business grow if they dont charge that much.

Take google for example.

lol. Ebay and their money guys, paypal takes 10% in total? Thats huge

3% plus minus is the credit card company's share-slightly less than what paypal is charging. Ebay are blood suckers...lol... Bandwidth doesn't cost that much...

idk what product was that exactly, but this $70 can be (very close to) your profit
do they always charge this much?

Love it . . . or hate it, you are going to have to live with it or live without it.

eBay don't give a ***t about you . . . you play and pay, or you move on to somewhere better.

You can't always have what you want.

The best alternative to ebay I have seen is ebid.com but it is much harder to sell stuff on it compared to ebay.

eBay hates you too apparently! That sucks. But Spot_on is right, it's probably the only way to get it done in terms of auctions. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the fee a bit lower if you start the bid off at 99cents?

Well they keep losing more and more profits, I think last year their profits from ebay dropped like 30% if I'm not mistaken. So they can keep raping their customers and driving sellers away, and sites like bonanzle and ebid are only going to grow more popular. I think in time ebay is either going to a) pull back some of their ridiculous fees and restrictions or b) have more competition as more and more sellers look elsewhere for online auctions.

Well, I hope so anyway.

I should also add that a few years ago I didn't even know of sites like bonanzle and ebid, and I'm not even sure those sites existed... and how do you think I found them? By hearing people unhappy with ebay talking about/looking for ebay alternatives. It's happening more and more. Ebay can't continue with its current model, it's hemorrhaging money. Gee I wonder why.

Exactly!!

There is no possible way that they have not paid off all of their debt to the programmers of ebay. And there is no way in hell bandwith is that expensive...

I start all of my listings at 20 cents...

Not to mention, http://www.blackhatworld.com/wiki/Pierre_Omidyar is the creator of ebay and now the 156th richest person in the world...

Nothing I have against become rich, but if it's by stealing then it becomes a problem. No wonder he's so rich with millions of frozen accounts that they keep for 6 months for interest.

they have over 200,000,000 accounts worldwide
Lets assume on average at any given time there are 100,000 frozen accounts, with an average of 50$.
Thats 5 million dollars laying around in liquid assests being used for whatever they want...

With 5 millions dollars they could probably host ebays website for 5 years..

Now, that is how he makes more money.

eBay is one of the most terrible companies out there. Yes, they own paypal, own Skype, and several other properties you probably didn't even know they own. eBay started out good, but since it went public, it has had one board of directors nightmare after another.

They have made real bone head moves and created a culture of distrust with their base. They are hoping/trying to move in with the bigger brand chain stores to get them using ebay. They have forgotten the reason people go to ebay isn't to hit a store, but to find a deal, which most of the time comes from the little guy.

I know your frustration. I am willing to bet 99% of people in this forum have been burned by ebay in one way or another.

The very methods and terms by which they operate are criminal by every other standard.

Now for the scary part. Paypal is trying to position itself online as a world currency. They exchange dollars/euros/rupies etc now, but as they get closer to the their goal of critical mass, they will introduce their own credit system. So you won't be paying by dollars from your paypal account, but by paypal dollars they will give their own valuation for against current currencies.

We can only pray that one of the many attempted class action lawsuits against the company actually makes it to court one day and takes down the juggernaut.

On the flip side. Since ebay sucks so bad, and they obviously make money, how about building an alternative?

Seriously, rather than just going to someone else s setup, start your own.

We will call it something nice like, ibaysurvivors, or blackhatbay, or auctionsthatdontsuck :p

But in all seriousness, if there are some investors out there, I could guarentee that if you invest 1mill in resources to build a better site than ebay, and advertise on national television etc. you could probably out rank ebay in a few years and make more money...

I hoping there is an auction here in BHW, it could be easy for the seller and buyer. Is that possible?
