I never had debtYou probably do not have good credit history or your credit score is too low so the bank do not want to risk
Because it will be a second hand in another country ...Which country? This is pretty shitty, most of the banks want 10 or 20% down payment.. they really, really, really want to give you loan, so make no sense whatsoever to ask for 50%.
That's exactly the dealI never had debtIn my country, we don't have credit score as in the USA.
NOTE : This is as per what and how YOU have explained it : Your bank is telling you, that for example if you need a loan to buy a home worth (example) US$200,000 then you first have to have a deposit in the bank of 50% of that, which is US$100,000 : NOTE : This is as per what and how YOU have explained it.you need a 50% deposit for your loan application to be accepted
OP is NOT talking about the upfront payment, OP has clearly said that the bank has told him (or her) that to be eligible for the loan itself, OP needs to first have 50% of the desired loan amount as a deposit in thte bank. Got it ?It’s not always 50%. We bought a home with loan, and we had to pay 20% upfront

This is NOT a standard in all banks. They run a financial study and based on certain criteria they decide how much they will request the client upfront.Answer: you need a 50% deposit for your loan application to be accepted.
To be honest, NO.Got it ?

Yes, you're rightTalk to multiple banks/bankers... it's a numbers game. There's always room for negotiation. If you don't ask, you don't get it.
