I Guess That Dreadful Little Google Plus Does Work After All

On one of my sites, I have ranked number one for a couple of years on a certain keyword phrase because of something I originated and made. Let's call it a "size chart" for an example. (It's not really a chart, but I couldn't think of anything else to use for an example. It is something in the field of reference.) Six or so months ago, my "chart" disappeared from the serps. No matter what I did, the chart would not appear back in the serps. About 1000 people copied this reference chart and had it on their sites. They were ranking and I wasn't. I thought that Google maybe blackballed that page because they thought I copied it. So I forgot about it and went on to other things. Two weeks ago, I tried something just for the heck of it. I put the chart page into addmefast for some plusses. I sat at the computer and watched the points go down by constantly clicking refresh. I stopped the plusses when about ten people plussed the page. I did this every day for a week. This morning I checked and the chart page was back in the serps for that same keyword phrase that has been gone from the serps for six months. It could not have been anything else but Google + because that's the only thing I did.

I can confirm this,
I have conducted tests on some sites and found that they can rank easily with proper Social Signals.
In my case even some pages which were not even indexed in google appeared on page 2
after creating social signals to them.

Yes, they work great! Don't only focus on the google +, but also do the facebook like and tweets. You can also do it by youlikehits.

That "chart page" did not rank with fb likes or tweets. Nothing worked. Believe me, I tried everything. I really thought that page got banned because nothing I did worked. Never did I have a problem like this before.

Strange but nothing surprises me anymore

The social signals are the tools to reinforce your result. You should not only use this for SEO, but also web2.0, article directory, blog comments, etc... And also do these social bookmarks on your backlinks.

I should clarify. Social signals were used many, many times with no results. It is on every social bookmarking site, it has been tweeted, retweeted, fb likes, shared in every way, articles, etc. Nothing I did would bring it back and I just gave up. Ten google plusses a day were what brought it back into the serps.

I can confirm this myself too. Making a Google+ account was worth it in the end!

I added the google +1 button to my site without using my g account, is there any disadvantage of doing that?

Were you logged onto Google when you did your search? Google Search Plus The World feature puts your rankings higher with personal results.

The only time I log into google is for adsense or to read a gmail account. I log right out when I'm done. But no, I wasn't logged into google at all today. Also, I used serpfox from a recommendation here which showed me the results. I then manually double checked while on a proxy.
