    Hi guys,

    I sold a site 3,4 days ago for $1k.

The guy paid me, I sent him the domain and I've had setup his site in 2 hours. Everything was good since then. We've talked every day via Skype.

Today I received an email from paypal saying that the buyer wants a refund and the reason is: Unauthorized Payment.

This is clearly a scam from him.

Now, from what i've heard Paypal always gives the money back to the buyer. They don't care about my proofs.

I have proofs about everything. Chat log with him, emails from godaddy saying that the domain was moved, EVERYTHING. But I heard they don't care.

Is there any tip or trick that can help me bury this idiot scammer?

You should be using escrow.com to buy/sell domains. Using Paypal is just asking for this kind of thing to happen.

    Sorry to hear that.

If Paypal will keep going with this policy, which is usually much more in the favor of buyer, we must search other options.

As 7878 is saying escrow is far better solution for this type of deal.

    Regards

Im not really experienced with paypal but could you send an email with your concerns and proof to them? Ask them if anything can be done?

Escrow.com is good for domain buying/selling

You people are not helping him, he doesn't care about other payment methods right now. He cares about getting his money back. Try calling paypal and talk to a representative.

I once had a paypal dispute as a seller and won.
It was a service on a site, But the site was in beta and it obviously said that things may go wrong, the user was not happy about it.

PayPal is a pain in the butt.

When someone starts in the end to make some money

suddenly wake up with a limited PP account and you can

f| your money for 180 days.

Maybe they are using your money in some way,

or I don't know but they will be kicked out from the market

    if continue like this.

(You guess that my PP account is limited - hate them).

PP do not always favour the buyer, certainly not in disputes.
They to not like to get mixed up with "digital products".
If you can prove the item was delivered then you have a good chance of hanging onto your money ... in a DISPUTE.

The problem here is that it is an "unauthorised transaction" which I have no experience of.

If he is saying he had his account hacked, then I would have thought that is down to him or paypal, not your loss, but I really dont know.

As others have said, use Escrow via MoneyBookers for this kind of thing in future.

calling gaypal , trying anything it's waste of time , money are lost . You should see on forums before hundreds of such threads lol about buying / selling with gaypal ...

sorry for you , at the end of the day you lost the site and time wasted with the scamer , most probably he used a stolen pp to pay you ... thing is easy for seller who need to protect from such happening , accepting direct paypal payments on your account ( with no enstablished history of selling specific items it's most dumb thing ) ... no matter what logs you have from skype / email / chat anything ... rules on paypal are extremely easy to understand no seller protection for digital items what's so hard to understand ? IF you selling anything digital and the buyer ask for return , simply you have to give the chargeback elsewhere the gaypal will froze the founds ( I JUST HOPE you don't have too much money on the account lol - hope you had alteast 1 minute of geniality and hit the withdrawal button asap when you got the money lol ... ) if the withdrawal is processed , wait for the money to clear on your card/bank account - since you are romanian thinking you use the card withdrawal ? I`m right ? ... when the money's come , just go to the bank , empty the bank account , close ( or leave the account empty ... ) go and open another card on another bank , and open yourself a new account ... THIS is the only way what you can get rid of this , if the account on gaypal is already limited ( most probably by now ) and you was so smartass and you didn't asked for withdrawal ... say goodbye to the site & money ... and start to build a new site :)

Your best bet is going to be to call PayPal and talk to an actual person.

Be professional, explain the situation, and tell them you have all the proof necessary to show that it is a bogus claim.

In my experience, PayPal doesn't ALWAYS side with the buyer, you just need to provide your evidence to an actual warm, breathing body.

I've actually won several disputes, as a seller, by doing this. The key is to have your shit together when you call them, and ALWAYS remain professional with the EBAY rep.

    Give them a call.

I read somewhere that a guy adds some kind of code to the website to lock up or to make the website revert to him if the buyer turned out to be a crook.

Hi guys, thanks for the info.

I've had many problems with Paypal in the past, believe me. One year ago I lost 2000€. So, this happened to me already.

I am not that dumb, I know what Paypal does. They don't care about the seller.

BUT, I didn't though that someone's gonna scam me for $1k. That is why I haven't go with escrow.

I contacted the scammer via email, waiting for some answers from him.

After that, I will call Paypal with proofs, I will call Godaddy with proofs that he is a scammer, I will screw him on flippa and digitalpoint and I am still trying to get his username here on BHW. Hope he has one.

Did you guys had any success with things like this in the past?

It's possible to win, look for something that proves that the buying was the one using the account. Create a timeline and account of what happened and upload it in the dispute section as evidence, label all supporting evidence clearly and lastly, being civil always helps. Good luck!

I feel your pain.. i've had the same problems with paypal.. i would definitely recommend calling paypal and offering proof.. but if you do call paypal I would almost demand them to take action now.. if you have to send proof do that and wait 24-48 hours and call back to see if they've reviewed your documents. because them telling you they'll look over it and it be taken care of doesn't mean a damn thing. so i would ask them to take care of things while you're on the phone. don't be an asshat.. but be assertive.
