I got a manual google penalty...

i asked my friend who had the same issue and he followed some steps to recovery this penalty he starts
with link detox then analyze the results , disavow bad links in LTR , after that start link detox boost finally
Reconsideration Request approved by Google ..

I dont use any PBN, just web2.0 and contextual links, my stie is still good and great.

PBN for me is like time bomb.

So you'd say that you probably got penalized cause of low quality pbn links?
What about diversify links packages, web 2.0 etc? Would you say those are safer than pbn links packages and can still help increase rankings?

It's hard work but you need a link detox my friend. Sit down and wait it's like having your house burning and pray for the rain. Disavow will help but won't do the whole job. Get rid of PBNs... Let's say you have a money site selling tees and grab 10k links from a shady expired domain advertising Viagra? You're dealing with tragedy. Good luck and keep us updated!

My site got hit today also.

Have you used PBNs on your website?

Maybe we have bought from the same seller.

Remove the link, buy a quality DA domain and build out your own PBN. This can make a big difference!

Use More Diversity Link packages Other than the PBN Links.

For PBN links you can make your own.

If you can identify the links that you received from this specific seller, I would create a disavow file for them tbh. Since so many people seem to have been affected by this PBN, I'd assume it's game over until you get rid of those links.

But first I would "contact" the owners of the websites, save the conversations and then show Google staff that you've tried. Those links that you couldn't get rid of though email - put them in disavow.

Always see disavow file as the last resolution.
A seller told you that eventually everyone that buys links from him gets hit?
From what I've heard there is a big seller on here whos PBN got hit. So probably he contacted his clients about it.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Google is hunting down all the PBNs, even expensive premium ones got hit. I'm currently recovering the sites from the penalty which will take a few weeks, I guess.
One of my sites (which was quite new and didn't make any money yet) got deindexed completely, not sure if that one is even worth to recover lol. I don't want to go into details here as I know that my competitors are reading this as well :D
However, for those of my sites that didn't get hit by a penalty: I'll try to get rid of bad links asap as I don't want that to happen again.

For now, STAY AWAY FROM ANY KIND OF PBN. Google's AI algorithms are getting smarter every day, so we have to get smarter as well. Let's fight fire with fire.

I'm currently building a few new sites and will use different approaches when it comes to linkbuilding. Let's see how that goes.

May you share what your new approaches of linkbuilding might look like?

I am also interested in this thread. Will be lurking around here for more updates.

I used to buy Pbns just about a year ago. Just a few 30 plus web 2.0s altogether. No manual action whatsoever, so nothing for me to worry about.

the big influence is, you put your links to the blog who already has traffic is better than anything.

After being hit with a penalty, I disavowed the links I thought were responsible, and the reconsideration request was rejected. The solution to this was to start again. I couldn't be arsed hanging around for a while trying to get things resolved when I could be proactive and start it all up again.

STAY AWAY FROM ANY KIND OF PBN.
The sky isn't falling.
PBNs have always carried a risk, and with that risk is an obvious reward.
It really comes down to 2 things here:
1) you don't want to take the risk
2) you're willing to take the risk

Google has always hated PBNs, they are always trying to knock them down, but in reality as long as Google uses backlinks as a factor PBNs will work.
I lost 0 of my PBNs. Why? Because my network is not built exclusively for links. I built a network and will continue to build up my network of sites that are designed to make money, the link sales are only a part of that total plan.
How many PBNs have you seen that also are built to gather emails for a mailing list, and actually use that email list?
How many PBNs have you seen that also have affiliate ads, sell tshirts, offer ebooks, do product/service reviews, everything real sites do?

Now, all money made from my network is entirely used to build that network up. This isn't a link network, so much as a network that also offers links.
The biggest difference is, I also use my network, I have built it up to support my own sites, which is where my ROI comes from, it pays for itself, so it is self supporting.

Sure I'm not running a network of 1,000s of sites, but my network is growing into the 100s. I accept the risk, and have done everything to mitigate the risk.

I do agree, stop buying cheap PBN links and thinking they will last forever and carry no risk. But don't assume that Google can target all PBNs, as they still love links.

** Do NOT contact me asking to buy into my PBN, I do not currently sell on BHW**

That's why I link every page together on silo. For example I have 20 different location pages so I can rank for that location, then I do a our locations page and link every location there using anchor text and the place name, then I blast links only in the our locations page and juice goes to every location, and if I ever get a penalty I just delete the our locations page and I am good

Niche sites will always go down TBH
You can make them survive longer by Weekly Link Audits and Disavowing BS links
