I decided to test Google’s recommendations for 30 days across my account and followed everything strictly, including bidding strategies, ad structure, targeting suggestions, and optimization tips. I didn’t use any outside “hacks” or manual tweaks, just pure Google recommendations.

After 30 days, I noticed changes in performance like shifts in CPC, traffic quality, and conversion patterns. Some campaigns improved while others became more expensive without clear ROI improvement. Overall, the results were mixed and not as straightforward as expected when following everything exactly as suggested.

Has anyone else done a full compliance test like this? What were your results?

I've tested this before and had similar results. Some recommendations helped, but applying everything blindly usually increased costs. I now test recommendations individually instead of accepting them all at once.

Same experience here. When you fully rely on Google’s recommendations, performance can look “stable” but not necessarily profitable. It’s usually better as a starting point, then you still need to adjust based on real conversion data, not just what the system suggests.

yeah I did this on a lead gen account last year and the weird part was Google made the account look cleaner in the dashboard, but the backend lead quality got worse. Auto bids started chasing cheap form fills and a few search term gaps got expensive fast. Some recs are fine, like fixing disapproved stuff or obvious keyword conflicts, but anything around broad match + smart bidding I never accept without a small test now. Google optimizes for its signals, not your margin... thats the part people forget.
