I exposed a very difficult keyword in 3 months. I have a problem

In three months, through the Link Building, we exposed some very difficult keywords on page one. The problem starts here. We managed to expose some websites to page one in three months in the same way, but once we're exposed to page one, it doesn't last a month and all the keywords are gone. Is there any way to improve this?
