I don't understand PLR article packs

from the writers point of view, i understand them as this...the writer picks a topic (after figuring out what will sell well), writes 10-100 or whatever articles on the subject and sells them as a bulk package. the thing i don't get is that they usually sell for $1-$2 per article. they could easily write articles on a 1 by 1 basis for much more.

for that reason, i am assuming that i am missing something here.

from the IMers point of view, besides cost, what is the advantage of buying PLR packs rather than ordering articles by the keyword which would allow them to get more targeted articles.

For you as a writer, selling PLR articles is profitable by the numbers. I.e you price them low but you sell them en masse. From a buyer's perspective, it's low cost. i.e: the cost of writing one article is much higher than downloading say 10 or 100 and having them either published (if they are the first purchasers) or re-write them.

I recently bought a PLR article in a certain niche with about 50 articles (around $3)... yea they were already published elsewhere but re-writing the content (which took me 5 - 7 minutes) to make it unique and informative saved me a lot more than having to psay say $5/unique article.
 
^ Exactly. IMers buy PLR article to re-write and use it as their own product. Most of the PLR will give you that right.

it sounds like you are saying the writers can sell the same PLRs multiple times. either that, or do you mean the buyers just make small adjustments in order to get that general article more targeted to their needs?

Well the idea of PLR article packages is that the writer sells them to many people. Then the buyer can make what ever adjustment to the article he sees fit, these days most likely need rewrite to make it unique again. If you rewrite them yourself its quite good idea to think about rather than start writing on something you don't know anything about really.

The writers sell the package multiple times, while smart buyers usually re-write them in order to avoid getting hit by duplicate content.

ok, thats the part i thought i was missing.
but to the buyer, what is the advantage of buying and rewriting PLR content as opposed to just rewriting existing content from other sites for free?

also, 50 articles would sell for what? $100-$150?

Often PLR articles are "repurposed". That is to say that they are
not used as articles per se. You can take a package of PLR
articles and use some of the content to create an ebook or
an audio or video course.

Is Digital Point the best place to sell these? It seems like the lower cost would go over well there.
