Alibaba and China are very different from any other country I have ever imported from. They have this weird culture that I noticed, and it seems to repeat itself with every vendor I work with to the point I'm done working with that culture.
Now before you get PC on me, my parents were born in China...... I was born on the best coast... Ahem, West Coast.
Example: is I hired a Chinese programmer to build some map app I wanted to test back in 2012, I remember because my ex served me divorce papers around that time. Fun time...
2 weeks after paying for a dedicated server (not cloud) and giving full SSH access to this slant eyed cousin of mine. I started getting emails from a *INSERT BIG US PROTECTED BANK NAME HERE after about 2 weeks to the admin email of the server, which I would typically auto send those emails into a folder because its usually just data I dont typically need but would like at a moments notice. So, I dont see typically see them pop up
But this time I started noticing that the bank and a FBEYE field office were sending emails to that admin email address. Sometimes 40 a day each. I thought it was spam.
Then I got a phone call.
I was told that the server was email blasting millions of phishing emails disguised as the bank....
Stupid emails to like
[email protected] <--------- pretty clever actually
Anyways, I just gave them complete access, contacted the server provider of the situation, they refunded me a portion which I was thankful. It wasnt their fault I didnt vet a contractor I found on Fiverr.
As far as importing. They (Alibaba Vendors) explained to me that they purposely "bait and switch" prices on customers because that is the most effective way of getting customers. They will even list items they have never exported just to ensnare clients.
I explained to them, this is not only illegal in our country (guessing here) but highly unethical.
Why? - Was their response.
Just wanted to share that story. Oh... my mom was born in Harbin and my father was born in Sinkean (Cinkean, Cenkean) that how they pronounced it.
