You're not alone to this, lets see also how iAcquire will recover from deindexed.

Thanks.....but wpmu was lucky to real a news channel most webmasters with even big sites don't have enough money or contacts to do that.

What I am saying is that if you have a big enough blog etc. or enough traction and you have been affected by an algo change Google will hand job it. Then Moz jokers will write a post on how to go about 'recovering' or 'cleaning up' which is complete bs. It's all politics tbh. Moz is a PR funnel for Google.

Notice how they targeted WPMU and not Wordpress.

Footer links? Come'on. Every single wordpress blog has a footer link, same with many others, like phpbb, vbulletin.

That whole article is bs. Got a penalty over a link from a website that pirated its software. If that's the case why is isohunt still indexed and thepiratebay? They have a ton of pirated stuff, but never got hit.

Matt and Google got owned in the press and they tried to justify it.

Anything that SEOmoz puts out, is biased in my opinion. Google butt kisser. haha

Good points and gospel, write a blog post about it, maybe enough will tweet it...

Not just those pricks but on how corrupt Google really is. Like for example, if you complain enough, embarrass them enough, or get blogged enough, you WILL recover!

http://wpmu.org/wordpress-penguin-google-matt-cutts/

both ridiculous non SEO's just jibba jabba and sucking some dick!

I don't see how this makes Google corrupt; they've just reviewed a site that has been put in the public domain. Unfortunately for us, we aren't able to do this

The penalty would have been manually removed due to press coverage etc.It has no useful information about penguin at all and now all the sheep at seomoz will be busy trying to replicate it and it won't work.
Oh and if you visit wpmu he has a link to an article about the his google saga then a box selling a plug in right below the article before comments,no he wasn't worried the arse fell out his income no no,he was concerned about his visitors missing out on really good news LOL.
Creating crappy themes and placing links in the footer is an old technique,he got caught and literally begged anyone who would listen to cover the fact the arse fell out his bottom line,I mean his visitors will miss out due to google being cruel to him.
Then because seomoz kisses google ass cutts had the penalty manually removed and seomoz has a nice case example for the sheep to follow.

Granted the site isn't your affilated ladened crap, but it was penalised for a reason,it just happened to be known enough to get coverage. Many are not so fortunate.

I wonder if he has made himself a target for neg seo to prove a point.

Ill sum this up for everyone so they don't have to read these steamy romance novels of Moz homos blowing Matt Cutts.

Negative SEO works even on authority sites.

So they removed thousands and thousands of backlinks. Google manually removed the penalty. Now they naturally rank lower than before because they removed the backlinks.

How can they not see this?

This is almost impossible to make guesses/assumptions based off. There could have been a manual reason they moved up. Though, alternatively, what this might show is that penguin didn't just discount links - it actually penalised you because of links.

Yeah, the sites with a voice get preferential treatment and little guys get trampled...

google stinks to high heaven...remember, never click on any google organic ads and don't buy an android phone...

Reminds me of douches from high school who said don't drink its bad for u & illegal. That being said Rand maybe a huge google kiss ass but he knows what he is talking about & the seomoz / distilled seminars are worth listening to IMO.

SEOmoz used to annoy me, but honestly I think they're great. They have an absolutely monumental following, and thousands upon thousands of "wannabe" SEOers use their techniques.

The best part is, their techniques are just god awful. Thousands of people from warrior forum alone aspire to follow their guidance, and will continue to have poor results. Ultimately, SEOmoz helps remove a lot of the lazy riff raff from SEO forever. Most will give up within 6 months who try their "white hat methods".

Hell, just look at their "social media to get higher rankings" BS they've been spreading. Social media gigs are now huge money over on other forums, and I've tested this enough with some awesome tools I've built to know it doesn't work for crap.

Though, alternatively, what this might show is that penguin didn't just discount links - it actually penalised you because of links.

I figured out that Penguin was a penalty algorithm update (links can carry negative value) within 2 days of the roll out. Every person that says otherwise is either a moron (most often the case) or fooling themselves.

The data on this points inexorably to a penalty update. Which may be the first one in google's history. Links can and do carry negative value if the algorithm identifies them as such.
