Dont know why. Only the slug of main page cannot be changed. No issues on other features. I tried clearing the cache and "Reset indexables and migrations" too. somebody help me, please........

If you set a random normal page as your main page, it can have a slug, but most people won't see it, as they will only access the page via the main page itself

It might be a caching or plugin conflict issue; try deactivating plugins one by one to see if any are causing the problem, or check your theme settings for any restrictions on the slug.Dont know why. Yeah, for homepages, there's usually no slug since it's the root URL. If you're seeing something like /home in the URL, it could be a permalink setting issue or a conflict with your theme/plugins. Maybe try switching to a default theme temporarily to check?

I tried to change Yoast slug for home page on wordpress. however, no matter how many times I updated, and slug still remained empty. btw, I can update slug for other pages.

it's telling you that you cannot have a slug for the home page, it must be empty because it is the root /
It is working as intended.
Unless your site as many pointed out is showing /home then that's NOT the slug that's a setting to serve /home
