I think I am a pretty smart person. The issue with not getting my printer online with the windows update has me stumped. I've tried downloading new drivers and it won't come online no matter what. It makes me mad yes that its a ploy to get me to buy a new printer. There is nothing wrong with my printer except obviously it was not safe and a portal for dangerous computer virus. My computer says to download the drivers from canon is not safe. I'm a mom. I want to keep as much of my money and figure this out myself. But I can't yesterday I cried and today I didn't give up. I found out that millions of people have this problem with their printers and not just me. I see why some here hate windows and hate microsoft. I see why you all want to install Linux. I see all the frustrations. What are my options for solving this issue. Its a canon pixma MG2922. It's 4 years old but it still works great.

Oh fuck i love this community haha. You need to know one thing about printers, and that is they are made with low cost, often even not profitable to sell, the ink on the otherhand is over expensive, priced. I worked in an IT shop in 2010~2011 and a lot of times the problem lied in the "ram" it was fully loaded with a bunch of bs, we either changed the ram or cleaned the whole printer, a printer is like a tv, a small computer, it has ram, a mainboard and other things. You could try to go an update back. I even completely reinstalled my whole pc when "Filmora" just didn't work anymore and see there, now it does. So maybe your computer might be the sauce of the problem, have you tried another one? From a friend or family member? Can you reinstall your whole computer and maybe safe your most important files to a cloud like mega.nz? Or to a harddrive?

I will try it with an old dell optiplex gx 620 desktop that my mom wants me to set up for her first. See if that will talk to the printer, find out how to clean the ram on the printer (I have the disk somewhere). I have an external hard drive from when geek squad made this computer for me from the last, and could get a cloud or put it on that hard drive if there is room left. I will need instructions for all of this but by now I am fully "IN" and not going to stop until I conquer the issue. :) Thank you very very much!

The issue that affected a lot of Windows 10 users was update KB4557957 in June. It caused the print spooler to crash when you send something to the printer. Check the Event Viewer for print spooler errors.
https://www.techspot.com/news/85669-microsoft-releases-fix-windows-10-update-printer-issues.htmlI thought this was solved through a windows update in the end so make sure you are fully updated. Failing that you could try installing the fix manually.

There are choices. X64 based, ARM64 based, and x86 based systems. I don't know which one a Dell inspirion13 7000 series is. Purchased at Best Buy 4 years ago.

Press windows key and then X you will get a menu. click on System. It will tell you your "System type" under Device Specifications. Chances are its x64.

Do yourself a favor and make a restore point before changing anything you are not sure of.

I guessed on 64, installed that, it fixed a spooler problem, then I had to delete all other copies of the printer from the control panel and the only other one left on there worked!!!! I printed a document in two days. yay me. I will check out the restore point for the future.
