so, my language is portuguese, if i get an portuguese article and translate to english, the article can rank on google?

someone already tested this?

It will rank if the keywords you are targeting are non-competitive. They will rank for the english article and the keywords that are within that article.

So yes it's possible.

I think what OP means is: will Google detect it as plagiarism somehow? I don't know the answer to this.

If this is what the OP means, the answer is no. It's different words and letters. There is no way its a duplicate.
 
This is a technique used by many writers. They get a keyword, translate it and then get an article in a different language. They use google translate or other translators, change a bit the text to make it sound good and publish. Half an hour job.
 
Yes you can do it.
In many countries, this method is being used everyday, and users translate english articles to their mother language and vice versa.
 
If you will write it yourself and translate it. I don't think so there is any issue with it.

This is a good method, especially because your language is Portugese so you can translate it yourself.
