I bought a domain created in '99 after it was deleted, so whois says 4/1/12, but I want to get some value out of the age if I can. I recall a post somewhere about puling old content from the Wayback Machine, will it help me get better position if I put old content and get it indexed with me as webmaster?

You can pull content back, but once the domain name is dropped the age is reset.

Whois will always show the new registration date.

It also happend to me. One of the page of old site is still indexed in google. But domain age is reset and no age benefits inherited.

But there is a difference between Whois and goggle age right? Doesn't google keep the old age clout?

^ Linky no worky. No matter how I type that In my browser nothing come up.

Anybody else wanna spoon feed me aged domain info? Seems like no matter what keyword I search for, I just get backlink ads...

I can continue my research here but I will soon post another thread about starting an affiliate site with this aged evergreen EMD I got...

Once a domain drops, its age is gone. There's potentially some value in the name, still, but I wouldn't spend any more time worrying about reclaiming the age of the domain, because the name itself is now considered five days old.

That said, going into the wayback machine to look at what the site used to be like and then creating something similar could be really useful. Also throwing some sort of 404 handler to redirect existing backlinks to your new content would be very helpful.

Thanks for the tip Gregstereo. It was as easy as using a 404 plugin, now every link redirects to homepage. Which is great because last site had a few hundred links going to about 20 different pages! Way too much manual work... I'm digging WP
