I am under a serious DDoS attack right now

Two of my websites are ranking for a very hard keyword (it took me 10 months and a lot of $ to get there).

Today someone started running a serious DDoS attack (probably in order to neg-seo me) on both of these websites, they are both hosted on different hosts.

Any tips?

It's already enabled on both of the servers.
 
Then tell them to do a better fucking job.

Are the sites down? Ultimately you need to speak to your hosting providers, they have all the tools to fix this and unless you are on an unmanaged dedicated server its unlikely you even have full access to what you need.
 
Yes, the sites are down. Hosting companies are doing "the best they can"... I am trying to push them via phone and live chat but the situation is still the same.
 
You could also switch over to Google hosting. They are BULLETPROOF to things like that. Only draw back is if you're doing anything fishy blackhat-wise on your site or with traffic spoofing.
 
Not sure if you are on VPS. I have experienced the same problem. My sites are on VPS. I installed fail2ban and it helped a lot.
 
All seems well now, it was a good reminder for me that important websites should not be placed with "Ok" VPS providers. A lot of nerve cells died today trying to get hold of someone who could do more than "investigate" the issue for 45 minutes.

Use cloudfare nameservers. When a site is accessed, first time is interogated the dns server, so in this case you will let cloudfare to do the job.
 
I saw two guys complainig about hosting. None of guys said what hosting...
 
oooh god i wish i still remember the tool name, anyway, i know sites who uses this tool to defend them selfs from unwanted traffic by verification tool, simply if the visitor is not interested in ur site, he wont make the human verification and leave, and u'll be in piece, good luck tho :) hope my hint helps you
 
well if attack is serious you cant do a shit

i had 15 gbit attack and they null routed my dedicated server ip

no one guards for such big attacks unless you pay monthly 3000 dollars :D
 
If you're being DDoSed now, chances are you will be DDoSed later as well. Ask your provider what type of attacks it were and the volume in Gbps. You may be needing some premium Anti DDoS protection for which you'll have to put down some $.

I heard that they were pretty bad over the weekend for my friend's site as well.
 
As others have suggested, you can try Cloudflare.

Otherwise, you're going to have to buy DDOS protection.
