I am getting less than 10 hits a day?

Hey guys, I have had my site up (with its current redesign) for around 2 months now and am receiving stupidly low amount of hits. I have written (and am writing more) unique content for the website and spend some time on my keyword research.

I see some people with hideous websites getting 200-300 clicks a day starting out... i can barely muster around 10 clicks a day! All the clicks i do get are solely from bing. Only ever had 1 click from Google.

What am i doing wrong?? I use Facebook and Twitter and nothing ever seems to come from either. I also post on yahoo answers but little seems to come through that!

Is it purely down to the competition of keywords i have chosen?

You are doing absolutely right brother.
Just make a routine of building 10 quality backlinks atleast a day
You can submit your website to web directories.

If I was you, I would be looking if your website is progressing, considering number of hits per day. I give you an example: If in the week total 3 weeks ago you had 35 visits per week, and the last week you had 70 visits, you actually improved 100 percent... Do not look on absolute numbers. If the relative are good, once also the absolute will be good.

Well thanks to both of you. I will take that info and sit back and wait. I guess patience is the key with these things...

Today i have zero keyword searches tho :S Still.... i will give it a month to assess things.

I have taken a look at your source code and I can categoriocally say most of your woes are on-site seo related ..

I would persoanlly re-write the code to mimick what you currently have and add additional related content .. it would surprise you to the difference it would make

Why not just give him some tips instead of stealing his niche?

I googled this random text off one of your pages "yourself why computer users are so excited about the HP touchpad". 462 results.

And then on another page: "camera and ebook reading all on the little android tablet PC" ... only 5 results but it looks like facebook is outranking you, are you taking your only original content and distributing it to other sites to help market yourself? If so, not good.

Non-duplicate content is vital on your main site.

I have absolutely no interest in stealing niches ...

I gave an honest opinion and a suggestion as to what I would do ... to go into detail would take me an age to type out, but I am more than happy to discuss it directly with the OP ..

maybe you should keep you nose reeled in before you go throwing accusations ...

Phpbuilt - You are correct. Some of the text on the site has been used on previous websites i have created. The front page text is entirely fresh though and has been written solely for this site. I understand what you say and will start writing unique content for the website.

Whitegold - You suggest there are problems with the main page source code? I have a few firefox plugins that suggested i have hit all the criteria needed for good seo. What can you suggest to help me? Are there some pretty major errors i have made?

I am still updating the site as you guys can probably tell if you look on a few of the pages... slowly getting there

Ok .. here's what I think ...

1. The first 'problem' as I see it is in the title tag ... you have ...

"PC Tablet | Android Tablet Computer, Windows 8 Tablet, Toshiba Tablet"

which is in general . .fine ... however, it doesn't really catch the eye so to speak and definitely dilutes the effectiveness of the SEO ..

preferably you should choose a shortened version targetting either 1 or 2 keyword phrases .. since your domain has 'pc tablet' pretty much covered then your title should reflect this keyword and add weight to it .. so, for me the title would be cut down to ...

"PC Tablet | Android Tablet Computers" ,,, with this method you are making the keyword density in the title much heavier while still giving enough information for a real live person to interact with ...

2. The description ...

"Information on the latest PC Tablet | The Android Tablet Computer | Windows 8 Tablet | The Toshiba Tablet | Web OS Tablet"

This in itself is 'ugly' to the eye in a description and again does not really help too much with the SEO side of things ... I would personally changew it around a little and again concentrate more on 1 or maybe 2 keywords ..

"PC Tablet Information From PC Tablet Experts. Reviewing The Latest Android Tablet Computer, Windows 8 Tablets, The Toshiba Tablet And Other WEB OS Tablet PCs"

Again this increases the density within the description and gives a little more eye candy for a real person ...

3. and this is the last one for now ... Your H2 tag within that code covers "Latest News" .. this should change to "PC Tablet News" giving it much more weight in the eyes of the robots ..

I hope these three bits of information helps you in some way with your on-site SEO and that you can see that you are under utilizing the available SEO juice coming directly from your page ...

WARNING :- DON'T OVERDO THINGS .. there is a limit! . .I have merely taken you to a safe edge without dropping you off a cliff ..

Everything you have said makes sense. I should have thought more clearly about the description and so on. Hopefully the changes you have suggested will make some difference.

I've just checked your site via yahoo site explorer, Your website haven't got any backlinks You should start building backlinks.

If you need any further tips . .give me a shout ... there is still plenty of juice still available on your site ...

for easy traffic, post one unique article a day (write your self or outsource) use onlywire pro service $13/month, setup onlywire plugin which will bookmark your article, traffic should come in

If all of these out going links from your site are affiliate links then You will never get any organic
traffic from google TRUST ME!!

Thank you guys for all of your ideas and suggestions. I do intend to put them all into practice. Currently writing new content for the site and getting a few more visitors each passing day. I have tweaked my title and description to (hopefully) make them a bit more appealing to potential clickers.

Seen nothing in Google so far but Bing results are positive.

kez1000 - That screenshot does not seem to be correct. There are obviously internal links on my site so the "0" stat is wrong. I am not sure why you are getting those stats.

I am at a loss with how to improve my keywords though. From looking at you guys posts it seem that may be one of my biggest problems. Every idea i get for a keyword seems to have high competition and low searches :/ (i am using traffic travis and google keyword website)

Saying that... I am not expecting miricals. I know this stuff takes time and am prepared to wait it out.

Keep building backlinks for your site. The more backlinks you build, the better the opportunity your site will be ranked higher in Google.

For people to be able to find your site, it has to be ranked on the first page. Build relevant, and as organic looking as possible backlinks. Good luck!

very interesting information on this thread, I have a "similar" problem on my website - don't really know why is getting less then 10 000 hits per month (although in January 2011 I had well over 18 000 per month). Thank you all for the ideas presented.
