so i started my 1st ad 7 days ago, 2nd day it shows total spent $5, and the numbers have not changed since, while i seem to be getting some reach? i wonder whats going on?
is it some kind of glitch? or am i missing something?

Since you've just started, it looks like you're paying per 1000 impressions. When you start a new ad account, you have to spend $10 before they allow you to pay per click. Check within your ad settings on the part where it says 'when you're charged'. If it says CPM, you're paying per 1000 impressions. Let us know in this thread so I can get a better idea.

i clicked "edit promotion" but dont see any CPM or CPC.
i saw the $ amount go up while the reach/impression go up, and then it stopped at $5. it almost appears that they are charging by CPC after it reached $5? because the likes stayed at 2, so no charge since?

then again, the page likes did appear to have increased way more than 2.

There are basically 2 possibilities.
1- Sometimes the number take some time to appear on manager.
2- You may be getting some organic traffic.

Hope the info help you.
see you

1, facebook has already charged me $5 on my card and the promotion period has not ended yet.
2, organic traffic means that someone visited my page though friend's likes or share? fb have given me only 2 likes, and 0 shares. so i am not sure how i could get organic? except from facebook likes i bought prior which was 2 weeks ago?
3, still, i dont understand why my account spending reached

i just noticed now when i try to edit promotion, it shows "14 days - run this ad until 1/18," which is 14 days from now? (i have been running it for 10+ days!) the status has been showing "active." looks like it has turned into a perpetual ad lol.

If it says "Account Spending Limit Reached", check your ad account settings (different from campaign, ad set, or ad settings).

Btw, the $5 charge could easily be FB checking the card works (normal procedure for new advertisers). If so, it has nothing to do with the ad spend.

make sure not to have instagram checked when runnig fb ads. Instagram ads eats up your $$ fast. Also uncheck right column ads, they don't do shit.

Not always true. The performance of Instagram ads and right column ads will depend on the ad creative, copy, niche and audience. The best practice is to run separate ads for each placement so that you can evaluate their performance. Then decide if it's worth to continue.
