I am a newbie, how do I make a website?

Common sense pal, everything you need is already on this site, so why ask something which is obvious already? Yeah, we all start from nothing.
But reading some guides, tutorials Won't bring a thread like this.
Hope you get me.

I wanna comment now too :pcguru:

Otto14's post was brilliant. Added content to this forum that is on topic to its purpose and pushed forward the conversation - good for this forum, good for the user who is asking. The only thing I could say was missing was choosing a topic. And of course, that is usually the biggest problem for most people who are trying to begin marketing online without any previous experience in marketing or sales. SO, about that.

Picking a Niche

All you gotta do is start writing down the things you love and know about. If you can't, note them any time you are talking about something and informing someone - it might be your expertise enough to slap your face on it.

It's important for you to love what you do - this is work no matter what you do. I think you said you only want to make a little money because you know you can scale it once you can cross that first thresh and know it's possible. As was mentioned, that isn't the best mind state.

You'll find lots of tactics on this board, but for something that lasts, even if you only need an extra 100 bucks a month genuinely, you need to love what you are doing. It will show in your content and it will attract your readers. So it goes a bit further than being sure you'll still want to do it down the road. No one starts a job at McDonalds and plans to be there until they are running it (I hope), and you probably shouldn't start doing this unless you want to become akin to similar sites of your topic.

Pick your top visited sites and forums, whichever one has the most different sites that you visit for the same topic, you probably found your topic or niche. There really is a lot more to look at and consider, but you've been pointed greatly in this thread, and you were even told the most important 2 words in IM (funny how consumers think that means instant message. Can't unsee the mindphuck ): Take Action.

Get behind something, become active, whore your links. If you chose "video game fansite based on popular IP" and you lurk at some forums or forum subcategories about it at a few other sites, hold off on your posts. Wait until you've "coincidentally" just blogged about that very thing. Post and the forum traffic flows into your site. Maybe it will motivate you to offer quality content, thus you get return visitors. Then you get juice.

So yea, that's the dirty tactic for making money right there, and the secret which is to love what you do, for both you and your potential traffic. Mingle with the public online about your subject and spread your word - one link in a post is there "forever"... Loving what you do ensures it stays there and doesn't look fake.

You face a daunting journey, one that you can fall on and off of just as often as a "real job" - and it is a real job. If you ever get a check, you Will have worked for that shit ;)

?Any man who reads too much and uses his own brain too little falls into lazy habits of thinking? -Einstein

We are already sick and tired of these "Im a newbie please do everything for me" threads

If until now you still have NO clue of how to build site and how to monetize it, then it only means one thing: YOURE LAZY

There are literally millions of information in front of you and yet you opted to go to a university asking people to teach you how to read..how sad

Are you okay today Snowhite?..If there is anything I could do for ya..just send a holla..

you can try working in joomla too. It doesnt require html knowledge.

Reading this thread makes me realize two kind of people here in BHW -- 1. those who know a lot and ridicule those people who are still asking basic questions and; 2. those who are already successful and knowledgeable but still care to share their ideas to others.

I don't know what type of members BHW is encouraging to have -- let us all answer that to ourselves!

Peace to all!

in short:

A. a smart person who spoils a LAZY person and encourages him NOT to use his BRAIN at all and just continuously ask the world how to live his live

B. a smart person who tells the LAZY person to WAKE UP, use his BRAIN and be independent which encourages the LAZY person to think, use the resources in front of him which then results into a more productive independent thinking individual

I strongly recommend using wordpress especially for newbies, firstly this is the most widely used CMS and have tons of plugins for your blog. Just google "wordpress tutorial" and you'll find a couple of good source. Good luck :)

I want to find a way to make money, just a little, I don't need a lot. But most methods require a website with ads. I'm really not experienced with websites. Is anyone nice enough to help me start my own small website? I also have some questions, is it free to start a website that I can use to make money? and how do I get paid? Through PayPal or check?

Well guys, take pity, we've all been there before and it's very diificult with zero information or knowledge to progress, luckely theres bucket-loads here on this site. You need to dip your toes in the water soner rather then later, good luck!

w3school is a good place to start reading. Don't be a lazy. Go read and learn. Its easy and fun to build one. Go on 000webhost or on bravehost if u need free hosting. But if u got some funds, go hostgator.

I actually have been referencing this site since I seen your post. Very useful info. So thanks!
i taught myself at w3schools.c*m, check them out...

i'd also suggest wordpress purely for the fact that you dont need a lot of technical knowledge..

Two ways...

1) Blogs - Create your free blog at blogger, wordpress ( com), typepad.. The advantages are you don't have to buy domain & hosting. You can post adsense and affiliate ads to monetize your blogs. Perfect for noobs and you can customize your blog's appearance with some great themes..

2) Your own website - Here you need to buy domain and hosting. Pick up your niche. Select a free template available online (search for "niche" free templates), add your content using a editor such as NVU, upload the files on your web server. Here again there are lots of ways to monetize your site.

Hope that helps, I would recommend that you learn a bit of HTML though, would really help you in the long run

Regards,
