Before I start investing time into a website idea I have, I wanted to get some opinions from the forum. The website will be based around giving my members a product / tutorial video that will educate them and make them better at completing a certain task. Lets say there are around a million people that take part in this certain activity. What percent would realistically pay a 5 dollar a month membership fee in order to become better at the activity?

I am looking to get around 800-1000 members at 5 dollars a month per subscriber.

My idea is similar to online poker training, but is not in the poker niche.

    Any comments are much appreciated.

Sort of a difficult question to answer. Many ways you can estimate the market demand, monte carlo, Chinese glove, competitor's rates and so on. None will get you any answer better than what you could do on your own giving it your best guess. Actual market research is what is going to give you your best estimate. Your questions should really include is what you are giving them worth 5$ to the market? Who are direct competitors and what are their rates? How are they doing it? Is there stiff competition? That and a thousand other questions...
Seen a lot of disappointed people who think they only need to get 0.1% of the potential market to make it work.

There are no direct competitors so it is hard to determine if my rates are appropriate. I guess I can always just give it a try and if it fails, I can at least say I tried. Thanks for the comment mobo57

it highly depends on the quality of training and how bad they want an advantage at that activity!
